‘NCIS: Los Angeles’: Does This Clue Point to Kilbride Firing Team Member?

by Lauren Boisvert

In a worrying sneak peek of “NCIS: Los Angeles” episode 5, Kilbride might be gearing up to fire someone. The episode is already titled “Divided We Fall,” and that can’t mean anything good for the team.

A promo for the new episode starts out with Sam in a scuffle; then a close-up shot of his distraught expression. “Your priority is an operative’s protection,” Kilbride says in voiceover. A door explodes, the agents shoot at someone, another person is led down a hallway.

At the end, Kilbride asks, “What happened?” and Callen replies, “We failed.”

The promo is only 10 seconds long, but it packs so much into those seconds. It’s almost hard to make heads or tails of it. All that’s for sure, is the episode promises to be exciting and thrilling. The official synopsis says, “When an NCIS mission to protect a compromised undercover agent goes completely sideways, the agents are individually interrogated to find out what really happened.”

With so much at stake, someone’s job might be in jeopardy. It’s possible that Kilbride could fire someone. There’s not a character slated to leave the show anytime soon. The firing could be part of an upcoming character arc. Instead of someone permanently leaving the show, a firing could be used for development, kind of like Gibbs’ suspension. Although Gibbs’ situation ended with Mark Harmon leaving the show, “NCIS: Los Angeles” could be handling suspensions and firings very differently.

‘NCIS: Los Angeles’: Episode 4 Involved a Hearse Shootout and a Dead Suspect

On Oct. 31’s episode of “NCIS: Los Angeles,” the team found their only suspect in the stolen guns case dead. That changed everything in the case. Meanwhile, Kensi and Callen head to the morgue to check out the body and the suspect’s belongings.

Apparently, the suspect’s estranged stepmother was trying to talk him out of going through with the weapons deal. The team finds a new suspect, a man who drove the weapons truck. The man said someone took the guns and he did nothing about it.

As for the hearse chase, Kensi and Deeks are working undercover at the funeral. The original suspect apparently had a stepbrother, and he’s the one who killed him for the guns. He escapes, and Kensi and Callen pursue him in the hearse. That’s where the high-speed hearse chase comes in.

Turns out, the stepmother had her stepson killed for the gun money. Sam and Devin find the stolen guns, finally, so it looks like that arc has played out. As for Callen and Katya, he’s still searching for her, so that arc is still alive and well. He sees a woman he met earlier in the episode, who he begged for help finding Katya. She gives him a key to Katya’s safe deposit box.
