‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Ratings Struggle in Return from Hiatus

by Joe Rutland

Taking some time off from the primetime wars might help some TV shows. For NCIS: Los Angeles, though, this was not the case.

The CBS crime drama that stars Chris O’Donnell and LL Cool J just struggled upon its return from a hiatus. Let’s take a look at the ratings with some help from TV Line.

NCIS: Los Angeles had 5 million viewers and a 0.4 demo rating coming off Sunday night. The viewership total matches a season-low mark. The demo mark just matched the show’s all-time demo low.

This is not a grand start to the show’s 2022 efforts. Maybe the fact that people were coming off of having long holiday breaks might have kept its numbers down.

Outsiders, let’s take a look in a week and see if these ratings and viewership totals don’t improve.

‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Fans Think Star Might Have Hinted At Cancellation

While we know that ratings for the most recent episode were not good, is NCIS: Los Angeles headed for the cancellation heap?

Some fans believe star Eric Christian Olsen, who plays Marty Deeks, might have dropped a hint about the show’s future.

The panic flashpoint happens in this caption from an Instagram post. It reads: “We about to get back into it. #ncisla #whysoserious #Kensidown #thefinalseason #letsgo #newepisode #sunday #cbs.”

What freaked out the fans? #thefinalseason.

So, is this the last waltz, the final countdown, the farewell song for the show?

Showrunner R. Scott Gemmill says in an interview with TV Line that he is not aware of a cancelation happening.

He did say that he hoped enough time would be allowed for a proper ending.

Gemmill says, “We sort of always have that in the back of our mind [but] I will hope to get a heads-up if that is the case, just so that we can go out with an episode, or a bunch of episodes, that really tie up things and send our characters into the future in a way that makes everyone happy.

“But we’ll just have to wait and see,” he says. “If there is someone that knows, they’re not telling me.”

Linda Hunt. How Much Does She Make Per Episode?

Longtime NCIS: Los Angeles fans know that Hetty Lange has had quite an impact upon Callen’s life.

Boy, has she!

These days, though, Hetty is on assignment out of the country. That’s why she is not seen much on the show this season.

Linda Hunt has been playing Hetty since Season 1. How much does the actress make per episode?

According to reports, $80,000.

Hetty is a solid character in the show. While she’s gone, Hollace Kilbride, played by Gerald McRaney, is filling her leadership void.
