Medalion Rahimi was determined to be a star. So before she landed a part on NCIS: Los Angeles, she worked several sides jobs to keep her acting dream alive.

It wasn’t until Medalion Rahimi was headed to college that she realized she wanted to be an actress. But once she decided to purse the dream, she was committed to making it big. So Rahimi headed off to UCLA and majored in theater.

And like most actors and actresses, Rahimi wasn’t an over night success. She had years of try-outs and small parts before she was finally cast as Special Agent Fatima Namazi on CBS’s NCIS: Los Angeles. And she had to find other ways to supports herself while she was still a struggling actress.

So she took several side jobs while she was waiting for her big break

“I worked in both of my parent’s offices, just answering phones,” she told Film Forums. “My mom’s a lawyer, my dad’s a dentist. And then I was a receptionist at a hair salon in LA, throughout college, to help make some of my own money. I did that for a while when I started acting.”

While she was starting out, it was touch and go. At one point, she found a role that paid well, so she dropped the side gigs. But that job fell through. So she spent some time working as a Postmates driver and a checker at Bloomingdale’s.

“You always think it’s gonna be your big break. And then it’s like, ‘Oh, no. Not yet,'” she added.

‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Alum Andrea Bordeaux Revealed Favorite Part About Working on Show

Andrea Bordeaux has fond memories of her time with NCIS: Los Angeles.

On season nine of CBS’s NCIS: Los Angeles, Andrea Bordeaux played Harley Hidoko. Special agent Hidoko worked directly under Shay Mosely and seemed to have a promising career at the LA field office. But in 2018, Hidoko was murdered while trying to save Mosely’s kidnapped son in Mexico.

During a 2018 interview with Brief Take, Bordeaux said she was sad to walk away from the set of NCIS: Los Angeles. She told the publication that the “cast really is a family and such a tight knit group of people,” and the actress loved the “vibe” she got while working. And the actors, especially the veteran stars like LL Cool J, Chris O’Donnell, and Eric Christian Olsen, were “always on their game.”

Everybody brings lots of humor and life, really,” she added. “…You can tell that, even after nine years of doing this, they still really love their jobs. It made me love my job, seeing how much they love theirs,” she said.
