Renee Felice Smith, now that she’s no longer on NCIS: Los Angeles, has much more free time for the first time in years. So, go figure, she’s doing a lot of traveling.
Smith is using her Instagram account to document all her get-aways. And this weekend, she’s can’t say enough about Zion National Park. It’s almost as if she’s still the chatty Nell Jones, the intelligence analyst on NCIS: Los Angeles. She snapped a shot of the Utah park and captioned it “unreasonable amount of beauty out here, kids.”
If you believe Smith’s description tilts towards the hyperbolic, we give you these comments from Utah.com. An article on the site states that “Zion National Park is like the set of a movie that’s so grand you know it’s fake, but you don’t care because it’s delicious to look at; the kind of flick where the art director was given carte blanche and didn’t worry about believability.” Sounds nice. There’s more, too. “Check out how the park was formed. The site wrote “a bajillion years ago, ancient iterations of the Virgin River started wreaking havoc on southwestern Utah. Now there’s a faint “You’re welcome” echoing through the canyons of Zion National Park.”
Fans Still Want Nell to Return to ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’
Every time Smith posts, at least one NCIS: Los Angeles fan begs her to return. Folks miss Nell and her quirkiness. She was on the show from season two through 12 for a total of 253 episodes. Nell and Eric (Barrett Foa) left LA at the end of season 12 back in May to start a security business in Tokyo. As the episode ends, we see the two riding into the sunset in Eric’s new, super expensive sports car.
So as Smith was posting about Zion National Park, one fan changed the subject. “NCIS Los Angeles season 13 sucks without Nell and Eric,” the fan wrote. Another replied “Renee please come back to NCIS Los Angeles.”
Smith has stayed business since her departure from the show. But she still loves to share special moments with her fans. She also did a book tour this summer to promote her children’s book called “Hugo and the Impossible Thing.” She and her partner. Chris Gabriel, co-wrote the book. Hugo was a French bulldog and Smith’s first dog and very best friend as an adult. When he still was relatively young, doctors diagnosed Hugo with a brain tumor. He was given days to live. But with treatment, Hugo made it another three years.
Smith also was part of a short film called Someone to Carry You. IMDB said the movie now is in post-production. Here’s the description of the movie: “After receiving a hilarious and unexpected text from her childhood BFF, Serena recounts the beautiful story of meeting her first real soul mate; Laura Lee.” Smith portrays Laura Lee.
Meanwhile, NCIS: Los Angeles is carrying on without Nell. There’s a new episode Sunday night.
