‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Returns Tonight, How to Watch

by Suzanne Halliburton

NCIS: Los Angeles is here and all new. So let the show help with that post-holiday funk.

The series hasn’t featured a new episode since the Sunday before Thanksgiving. So NCIS: Los Angeles fans are super anxious to reconnect with old friends Deeks, Kensi, Sam, Kilbride, Callen, Fatima, and Rountree. Check out the new action at 10 p.m. Eastern, 9 p.m. Central on CBS.

So what’s this new episode about? We have some of the details. First, there’s this plot tease provided by CBS. “NCIS investigates the apparent suicide of a Navy intelligence officer who leapt to his death after taking LSD. Also, while Kensi is away, Deeks makes plans to redo the backyard without her input.”

Daniela Ruah (Kensi) is pulling double duty with this episode. Normally, you’d see her in front of the camera. But she directed the episode called Lost Soldier Down. It’s her second NCIS: Los Angeles episode on her directing resume. She has another one set for this spring, although CBS has yet to reveal any details.

As the show was on holiday hiatus, the social media accounts for NCIS: Los Angeles were busy offering glimpses of what’s to come.

“Back-up is on it’s way TONIGHT for an all-new episode of #NCISLA,” the tweet said. “Directed by the one and only Daniela Ruah We’ll see you and the rest of the team there.”

The NCIS: Los Angeles Instagram account also offered this scene from tonight’s episode. Check it out below. It scene features Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) talking to Callen (Chris O’Donnell) and Sam(LL Cool J).

Although Kensi is away in Mexico, Deeks still wants to carry out a backyard renovation. And he wants to create a zen garden. That seems like a very Deeks-like plan.

Check out the scene below.

In other NCIS: Los Angeles news, LL Cool J is recovering from a bout of Covid. He announced last week that he tested positive for the virus. With the positive test, he canceled his New Year’s Eve appearance on ABC. He was set to help usher in 2022 with a song from Times Square. Earlier in December, the new Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee helped light the Christmas Tree at the White House.

And there are more good tidings for NCIS: Los Angeles fans. There’s another new episode set for Jan. 9. Remember that Kensi is in Mexico for tonight’s episode. There’s a reason for that. Check out next week’s plot tease A Land of Wolves. “The NCIS team scrambles to find Kensi, when she is attacked and kidnapped by a mysterious militia group while helping a group of migrants cross the border.”

Tawnia McKiernan directed the Jan. 9 NCIS: Los Angeles episode. This is her eighth episode of the series. Her last one was called Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You and it ran Feb. 28, 2021. To help your memory, in the episode, Callen ran into Anna after Hetty sent him a mystery message. McKiernan also has directed three episodes each of NCIS and Blue Bloods.
