NCIS: Los Angeles fan favorite Daniela Ruah is celebrating two important events, Sunday.

Tonight’s episode of NCIS: Los Angeles is a career achievement. Plus, it’s the birthday of her husband, Dave. Ruah loves to share personal events, be they big or small, on her Instagram account. On Sunday, she acknowledged her husband’s birthday with a photo of him on the beach.

“Happy birthday to my hubba hubba hubby!” the NCIS: Los Angeles star wrote. “The most wonderful dada and most supportive partner… Love you forever and endlessly.”

On NCIS: Los Angeles, Ruah’s Character Married Her Real-Life Brother-in-Law

Ruah’s marriage is a special one to NCIS: Los Angeles. She’s married to Dave Christiansen. And he’s a stunt double on the show. He subs in for younger brother Eric Christian Olsen, who plays LAPD officer turned agent Marty Deeks. Kensi, Ruah’s character, is married on the show to Deeks. So the show really does have an authentic family vibe to it.

Ruah also talked about her husband on another CBS show last month. With NCIS: Los Angeles on an extended holiday hiatus, Ruah appeared on a show called The Greatest Stay at Home Videos, which is hosted by Cedric the Entertainer. Ruah shared her favorite videos on the holiday-themed show. And they all involved coming home celebrations with military members and their families.

Ruah said she cries happy, emotional tears every time she watches the videos. Her husband is a retired Navy SEAL.

“First of all, my husband actually was in the military, (he’s) former military,” Ruah told Cedric the Entertainer. Then Cedric jumped in: “He was a Navy SEAL.”

Said Ruah: “I remember waiting for him for a month or two sometimes. And I remember how it felt to receive him home. I watch these military personnel videos coming home to their families and it’s so joyful and (with) so much love that I can’t help but get emotional.

“We live in a very complicated world and once in a while we get these very genuine, human moments,” Ruah said.

Ruah’s Influence Will Be All Over Next Two Episodes

NCIS: Los Angeles can be a perfect escape from reality, although it often involves plotlines that are terrifying. Tonight’s episode is dubbed Pledge of Allegiance. Here’s the plot tease provided by CBS: “NCIS investigates the apparent suicide of a Navy intelligence officer who leapt to his death after taking LSD. Also, while Kensi is away, Deeks makes plans to redo the backyard without her input.”

As we mentioned earlier, Ruah directed the episode. It’s her second one that she’s done for her show. There’s a third coming later this season. Coincidentally, it’s an episode that her brother-in-law and TV husband wrote.

Then a week from tonight (Jan. 9), NCIS: Los Angeles features a Kensi-heavy episode. In Pledge of Allegiance, Kensi is in Mexico. Then next Sunday, we find out why. Here’s the summary: “The NCIS team scrambles to find Kensi, when she is attacked and kidnapped by a mysterious militia group while helping a group of migrants cross the border.”
