NCIS: Los Angeles star Eric Christian Olsen is without his on-screen partner for much of Sunday’s episode. But that’s cool with him.

After all, Olsen is sharing a ton of scenes in tonight’s episode — A Land of Wolves — with LL Cool J’s Sam Hanna. Or as Olsen calls LL Cool J, the “GOAT.”

Olsen tagged his location as the U.S. border with Mexico in a Sunday post on Instagram. The photo was a snap from Sunday’s episode and it featured Olsen as Deeks and LL Cool J as Sam. He captioned it:

“Obviously I love chasing bad guys with our girl Daniela Ruah, but it’s pretty amazing anytime I get partnered up with the GOAT. Let’s do this LL Cool J. New episode of NCIS: Los Angeles TONIGHT only on CBS. Ep written by the very talented young guns Justin Kohlas and Adam George and helmed by the Badass Tawnia Cannell McKiernan. (She’s the director of this episode. You’ve seen her work, since she’s also directed NCIS, as well as Blue Bloods and Criminal Minds.)

In Tonight’s NCIS: Los Angeles Episode, Kensi Is In Trouble in Mexico

First, here are some details about tonight’s NCIS: Los Angeles episode. Here’s the plot summary, courtesy of CBS: “The NCIS team scrambles to find Kensi, when she is attacked and kidnapped by a mysterious militia group while helping a group of migrants cross the border.”

Ruah portrays Kensi, Olsen’s wife on the show. Ruah directed last week’s episode, so she didn’t appear on camera. However, Deeks did receive calls from her. She was in Mexico, although they never said why.

Now, this synopsis lets us know. She’s working with immigrants down in Mexico and is kidnapped by a militia group.

Show Dealt with Arizona-Based Militia Earlier this Season

Earlier this season, NCIS: Los Angeles dealt with a militia group in Arizona. A general, who wanted to run for U.S. Senate, was providing some serious guns for the group. Several ATF agents, who were working undercover, were killed. Sam and Callen (Chris O’Donnell) got to the ATF agents too late to stop what unfolded. Who knows whether that militia is the one in question for tonight’s episode.

Meanwhile, Olsen had every reason to refer to LL Cool L as the GOAT (greatest of all time). The hip-hop artist turned actor was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021. Plus, LL Cool J is one of three actors who have been with NCIS: Los Angeles since the beginning, The series now is in the middle of season 13.

Producers hit pause on the production of NCIS: Los Angeles this past week as a precaution. The LA area is being hit hard by the Omicron variant. So cast and crew won’t return until February.

However, NCIS: Los Angeles already has several episodes in the bank. CBS posted more information about the episodes this past week. The show returns with new storylines, Jan. 23. According to CBS, two new episodes are scheduled for that Sunday — Under the Influence and Where Loyalties Lie.”
