LL Cool J, one of the stars of NCIS: Los Angeles, was feeling like an iconic, ground-breaking hip hop star this week.
And why not? He recently was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. That’s a significant honor for the 53-year-old. Earlier this week, he posted a portrait of himself. The photo featured a black and white screen, as LL Cool J kicked it old school with his New York Yankees hat, dark sunglasses, t-shirt and a couple of chunky chains around his neck.

LL Cool J Will Take Time Off From NCIS: Los Angeles to Host Christmas Program for CBS
Earlier this week, LL Cool J announced that he was hosting the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Washington, D.C. on Dec. 5. No doubt, he’ll be colorful and festive for the celebratory occasion. The giant tree is located in President’s Park near the White House. Other entertainers joining LL Cool J are Billy Porter, Chris Stapleton, H.E.R., Juanes, Keb’ Mo’, Kristin Chenoweth, Maren Morris, and Patti LaBelle.
Sunday is normally the day for NCIS: Los Angeles, so you can get an extra dose of Sam Hanna.
Meanwhile, some old-school photos of LL Cool J will be featured in a new book, Rebels: From Punk To Dior. The book is a collection from Janette Beckman. She shot LL Cool J’s first press photo back in 1984. And that photo was used in the Rock & Roll induction ceremony over Halloween weekend in Cleveland.
LL Cool J is an iconic name in the entertainment industry. Did you ever ponder what folks who work on the set of NCIS: Los Angeles call him (besides Sam)? After all, that’s his hip-hop stage name, an acronym, he created in 1984. (It stands for Ladies Love Cool James). Just call him Todd.
“I let everybody call me Todd because I think that one, it’s more personal, and I can connect with people,” the NCIS: Los Angeles star said in a 2014 interview. “And two, I don’t want it to be about my career, my brand, my persona,” he said.
Show Returns With New Episode This Sunday
NCIS: Los Angeles returns with a new episode this Sunday. According to CBS, the new hour is called “Sundown.” The summary: “Sam negotiates and Rountree goes undercover when a man takes a busload of hostages and threatens to blow it up unless his daughter’s war crimes are posthumously cleared.”
So the episode appears to be very Sam-centric. On NCIS: Los Angeles this season, LL Cool J’s character has butted heads with the new boss, Kilbride. But Kilbride, a 70-something retired admiral, has added a different dynamic to the office. He likes to get out in the field and mix it up with the criminals. The last episode featured all the characters, but Hetty, as we see via flashback who killed CIA operative Laura Song. Spoiler alert: it was Kilbride, who figured out that Song, who he recruited to work for the CIA, had turned against the United States and was providing information to the Chinese.
