The hiatus just ended for NCIS: Los Angeles last week and with fans excited about the rest of the season, there’s bad news. No new show next week.

After a few weeks or more without a new episode, going a couple more weeks isn’t a big deal. Of course, the show isn’t going to leave fans hanging. There will be a big event when the show returns on January 23. So, while there is some disappointment this week, it will be more than made up for.

The two-hour event on January 23 will more than make up for the absence. The show is likely taking a small break due to the NFL. With the regular season finishing up this week, there are a lot of big games and the Playoffs coming up that would pull viewers away from NCIS: Los Angeles.

It really is hard to compete against the NFL. When it comes to the top 100 most-watched shows on TV in 2021, 75 were NFL games. It isn’t just the Super Bowl pulling the big viewers. Those fans that love Marty Deeks and the team will have to brace themselves for more time off after the big event as well.

When the show comes back for the big two-hour event, it is going to be one of the last shows before the Winter Olympics. Once the once every four-year global sporting event is over after February, the show will likely return to its regular weekly basis.

NCIS: Los Angeles fans are going to want to catch the big event. Two new episodes on the same night and a lot of action. There will be an agent returning so fans will be very interested in the big night.

What Awaits ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Fans In Episodes 9 & 10

So, next week there won’t be a new episode. However, those two new episodes on January 23 are going to give fans what they want. Things get started with Under the Influence. Featuring Agent Aliyah De Leon. Then, followed by Where Loyalties Lie.

The synopsis for Episode 9 says, “The NCIS team helps a U.S. ambassador search for her missing daughter, Gia, a popular social media influencer.” Agent De Leon will join the team as support on the case.

Where Loyalties Lie takes a bit of a different turn. “When a civilian scientist working with the marines is killed, and her advanced radar technology stolen, the NCIS team must scramble to find the missing technology and the culprit.” Stolen tech? A classic case for the team.

NCIS: Los Angeles has a few storylines that need to be settled. Will these episodes have answers for fans? What is up with Hetty? Hopefully, there is some movement on the bigger story arcs in the season.
