Now that “NCIS” lead actor Mark Harmon is off the CBS show, does he have any projects lined up in the works these days?

Let’s take a look at his IMDb listing. According to it, Harmon does not have any immediate acting roles in his future.

Gary Cole has moved into an important spot as Special Agent Alden Parker. So, he’s taken over as the lead of the NCIS team right now.

Harmon appeared in 419 episodes dating back to the show’s first season in 2003. The only two other “NCIS” cast members who can make the same claim are David McCallum and Sean Murray. McCallum plays Donald “Ducky” Mallard, while Murray plays Timothy McGee.

Will Harmon comes back as Gibbs at some point? That remains to be seen. “NCIS” was moved from its traditional Tuesday night spot on CBS to Monday nights. It’s on right now at 9 p.m. Eastern, 8 p.m. Central. The show is actually a lead-in for “NCIS: Hawai’i,” starring Vanessa Lachey. It appears on Mondays at 10 p.m. Eastern, 9 p.m. Central.

‘NCIS’ Star Cole Offers Up How He Thinks Alden Parker Feels About Gibbs

While we’re focusing on Mark Harmon, Outsiders, let’s give “NCIS” star Gary Cole a chance to share.

The veteran actor offers up how he thinks his character, Alden Parker, feels about Gibbs.

Cole spoke with TV Insider recently and said there are differences between Parker and Gibbs.

“Parker isn’t overly chatty, but he is more verbal,” Cole said of his character.

The actor also said that Parker on “NCIS” wants to make a solid impression on those he’s working with.

“He’s not as old school (as Gibbs); he tries to get his hands on new tech gadgets and impress everybody,” Cole said. “He’s trying to fit in with the rest of the team.”

Is there something he appreciates about Gibbs?

“Although he may be reluctant to voice it, he admires that Gibbs breaks rules,” Cole said. “Parker bends them. We’ll see if it gets to the point of breaking.”

Former Cast Members Offer Their Thoughts On Harmon’s Legacy

When people talk about the type of legacy Mark Harmon would leave on “NCIS,” former cast members have some thoughts.

Michael Weatherly, who played Anthony DiNozzo, said that there is a genuineness to Harmon.

“[Harmon is] a very rare person in this business because there’s no assistant, no entourage,” Weatherly said. “Mark is largely just a very straightforward, approachable, calm, assertive guy. He’s not a people pleaser.”

Cote de Pablo, who played Ziva David, shared her perceptions on Gibbs and Harmon.

“We were always trying to infuse [scenes] with different things,” de Pablo said. “Mark has been [on ‘NCIS’] for years, and he’s still bringing it.”
