Though former NCIS star Michael Weatherly is easily recognizable, that doesn’t necessarily mean everyone will know who he is. That happened to be the case with his wife, who he said he also had to “chase.”

Speaking on The Queen Latifah Show years ago, Weatherly recounted the tale of wooing his wife, Bojana Jankovic. At the time, she had no idea who he was, and after a good “chase” and effort on his part, agreed to go on a dinner date with him. It was only then she found out he was a notable actor and celebrity.

After his first marriage fell through, Weatherly was at a point in his life where he didn’t suspect he would ever marry again. However, after meeting Jankovic in Vancouver in 2007, he was head over heels. He promptly asked her out to dinner, but she told him she was busy. At the time, she attended medical school, meaning she was frequently preoccupied.

Michael Weatherly didn’t relent though. He told her he’d fly back from Los Angeles next week to take her to dinner. Jankovic said no again, stating she’d be in Europe for three weeks with her friends. After finding out from her she’d be in Paris her first night, he asked her out to dinner there instead.

“You know, the chase was very good,” Weatherly said on the show.” She knew exactly what she was doing. Boy, I chased and chased and chased, but my secret weapon is that in France, our show is a massive hit.” His persistence and gesture paid off in spades, with the couple getting married in 2009. They also have a daughter and son together, Oliver and Liam.

Is Michael Weatherly Teasing His Return in ‘NCIS?’

Though Michael Weatherly left NCIS and his staple role of Anthony DiNozzo, there’s nothing saying he can’t come back. In fact, many fans think he’s teasing a return with some of his tweets and social media posts.

An example many fans recently cite is a tweet Weatherly posted back in late September. In it, he says “Let’s just say… they ended up in Paris. Anyone think that’s a possibility? (BTW, filming this scene for ep 200 of #ncis was one of my favorite moments). The picture is also of DiNozzo standing with Ziva, further fueling speculation from fans.

Interestingly, a big reason Weatherly left the show in the first place is because of Cote de Pablo’s own departure. Speaking to TV Insider, he said “The badinage and sparring and flirting between [Tony and Ziva] and how they would swing from siblings to near lovers and back to buddies, that was gone. And then I got to the point where I felt I’d stayed at the party for too long.”

It’s a stretch to state both Tony and Ziva would return, but with the cryptic tweets Weatherly has made lately, anything is possible.
