CBS dropped some tantalizing details Thursday about an upcoming NCIS episode.
We know the name of the episode is Pledge of Allegiance. It’s directed by Rocky Carroll, who also portrays NCIS director Leon Vance. CBS gave us a plot synopsis: “NCIS is called in when Navy Chief Warrant Officer Rafi Nazar (Artur Zai Benson) is suspected of trying to sell stolen classified Navy software used to pilot combat drones.”
And we’ll see and hear about those drones Jan. 3, meaning this NCIS episode is a way to ease into the post-holiday normalcy.
Plus, CBS dropped three photos of the episode, along with a list of guest stars. The photos lead us to believe there will be some chase scenes — shocker, this is NCIS — and that Alden Parker wears a weird uniform.
NCIS Guest Stars: Bing Crosby’s Granddaughter and Two Actors from a Ron Howard Series
Here’s what we can glean from the guest stars. There are two actors appearing from the series 68 Whiskey. The series is produced by a couple of heavy hitters — Ron Howard and Brian Grazer. And it runs on Paramount +, which is CBS’ streaming service.
Artur Zai Benson portrays Rafi Nazar, the man accused of selling combat drone technology. And fellow 68 Whiskey co-star Kenajuan Bentley is Navy Captain Oliver Royce.
Plus, Denise Crosby, the granddaughter of Bing Crosby, portrays Secretary of the Navy Hattie Taylor. Crosby also was on Suits. And Trekkies probably recognize her, too. She was on the first season of Star Trek: the Next Generation. Crosby is joined by fellow Suits Amanda Schull. She also had roles on One Tree Hill and Pretty Little Liars.
In this NCIS photo, it appears like Alden Parker (Gary Cole) is dressed as a bus driver. Perhaps he’s working undercover?
Then in the other two available photos, we have NCIS chase scenes involving McGee (Sean Murray) and Jess (Katrina Law) and then Torres (Wilmer Valderrama). It’s not an NCIS episode unless an agent says “really,” then takes off after a suspect.
Never Fear, There’s One More New Episode Before Christmas
There’s another new NCIS episode set to run before Pledge of Allegiance. And that episode definitely sports a cool plot line. Here’s the plot summary from CBS: “When a hotshot financial advisor is found shot at a naval station, NCIS investigates the case by interviewing the victim’s three-dimensional hologram of herself, which she created before her death.” This episode is set for next Monday (Dec. 6).
So right in a row, NCIS trots out holograms and drones, oh my. The network also reached back and hired a former star from a 1980s-era cop drama to guest star in the episode. Stepfanie Kramer portrays the dead financial advisor. She starred as Dee Dee McCall in the show, Hunter. Fred Dryer, who was a standout defensive end for the Los Angeles Rams, played Hunter.
NCIS also had a new episode, Monday. This one also was directed by Rocky Carroll. Counting the new episode in January, Carroll has 18 NCIS credits to his name.
