‘NCIS’: When Was the Last Time Meredith Eaton Was on the Show?

by Suzanne Halliburton

NCIS fans adore Meredith Eaton, but it’s been a chunk of time since her character has been part of the show.

Eaton portrays immunologist Carol Wilson, a college friend of Abby’s. But the last time she was on NCIS was back in was 2013. She’ll be back for season 19. The cast started filming her new episode last week, right after the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Cast members were so excited to have Eaton back that two of them posted photos and video clips of her on set. That’s how the news leaked. You can thank Wilmer Valderrama (Torres) and Brian Dietzen (Jimmy).

NCIS executive producer Steven Binder confirmed Eaton’s return to TV Insider.

“We’re beyond excited to be able to work with Meredith Eaton again,” Binder said. “She’s an amazing actor, who brings a wonderful energy to our show. Since her last guest appearance in Season 11, we’ve been chomping at the bit to have her back whenever her schedule allowed.

We’re Assuming Lots of Folks Must Be Sick in NCIS Episode

The fact that Eaton’s character is an immunologist should give you a clue as to what the episode could be about. Somebody’s sick. Or maybe, a lot of folks are sick.

Binder offered another clue: “And now, with the team desperately needing the help of an expert immunologist, who better than Meredith’s beloved ‘Carol Wilson’ to come and save the day? The only real question is, will she be in time?”

Dietzen wrote the episode. Since he plays the NCIS medical examiner, perhaps there will be dead bodies in the episode. That’s usually the way it works.

“Sometimes you get to write something for TV,” Dietzen posted on social media. “And sometimes that means you get to hang out with friends you haven’t seen in far too long. So happy you’re here Meredith Eaton!”

Eaton’s Wilson was so popular she appeared in three NCIS episodes. But her last time with the franchise was for NCIS: New Orleans in 2014. Again, she plays the same character.

Her last NCIS appearance was an episode called Homesick. It was the show’s Christmas episode. Carol was asked to help with a mysterious illness contracted by children of service members.

Fans Remember Carol Flirting with Tobias

Carol’s first NCIS episode was in 2009 and it also had a festive vibe. In her 2011 episode called Devil’s Triangle, she had this memorable exchange with Tobias, the FBI agent and Gibbs’ good friend. In fact, fans often recall Carol’s interactions with Tobias.

Carol: “But times have changed. It’s now possible to build a synthetic virus from scratch using a numerical recipe just like this, and gene sequences you can get online.

Tobias: “I keep saying it: things were better before the Internet.”

CBS has yet to announce the run date for the Carol Wilson episode. NCIS currently is on a holiday hiatus. The show ran a new episode this past Monday but won’t return again until Jan. 3. Rocky Carroll, who plays Leon Vance, directed the next new episode, which is called Pledge of Allegiance. The plot summary — NCIS is called in when Navy Chief Warrant Officer Rafi Nazar (Artur Zai Benson) is suspected of trying to sell stolen classified Navy software used to pilot combat drones.”
