Weeks prior to Gilbert Gottfried’s death on Tuesday (April 12th), the actor and comedian took to his Twitter to support Chris Rock after the now-infamous Will Smith’s Oscars slap.

In the social media post, which is thought to be Gilbert Gottfried’s last, the “Aladdin” star shared a snapshot of him and Chris Rock. He also wrote, “Which is the worst crime? Chris Rock being physically assaulted or Chris Rock telling a joke?”

As previously reported, Gilbert Gottfried passed away at the age of 67. He was battling recurrent ventricular tachycardia. Which is a heart arrhythmia that is part of a genetic disorder, myotonic dystrophy Type 2 (DM). The illness causes weakness, pain, and muscle wasting. It affects the face and limbs. As the disease progresses, it is able to cause serious or fatal complications for the skeletal, respiratory, and cardiac muscles.

Gilbert Gottfried issued a social media post about his death. “We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness. In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend, and father to his two young children. Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert’s honor.”

Gilbert Gottfried Previously Shared a Snapshot of Him With Bob Saget & Louie Anderson in a Touching Social Media Post

Earlier this year, Gilbert Gottfried made a social media post that featured a snapshot of him, Bob Saget, and Louie Anderson. Saget and Anderson passed away suddenly in January 2022. “This photo is very sad now. RIP Bob Saget and RIP Louie Anderson. Both good friends that will be missed.”

As previously reported, Bob Saget passed away suddenly while he was on his comedy tour in Florida. He died in his sleep and was found in his hotel room the next morning. His autopsy confirmed that he died from blunt head trauma from an accidental blow to the back of his head. The medical examiner said this injury was likely due to a fall.

Following Bob Saget’s unexpected death, Gilbert Gottfried spoke on the Hollywood Raw podcast with Dax Holt and Adam Glyn about the conversation he last had with the “Full House” star. “It was like he was looking forward to going back on the road. Same guy. Always cracking jokes. The minute any one of us started talking seriously, we’d come in with a totally bad taste joke.”

Gilford Gottfried also said that he was dumbfounded over Bob Saget’s passing. He added that there was nothing to indicate something was wrong.

Meanwhile, comedian and actor Louie Anderson passed away after a lengthy battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The late actor’s publicist, Glenn Schwartz said the complications from cancer caused his death.
