Eddie Mekka was a dear friend to Ron Howard and the two got to know each other while working on the same projects. Mekka was most known for his role on the sitcom “Laverne and Shirley” as he played Carmine Ragusa on the show. His work on the 1970s hit show put him on the map and he put together a fine career. As Carmine Ragusa, he starred on “Laverne and Shirley” from 1976 to 1983, and is credited with appearing in 150 episodes. He also appeared on Ron Howard’s hit sitcom “Happy Days” as Carmine Ragusa in a hand full of episodes. Some of his other more memorable roles include appeasing in the films “A League of Their Own” and “Top of The World. He had numerous other television appearances as well, taking part in “Family Matters,” “Fantasy Island” and “The Love Boat.”
Ron Howard said goodbye to his dear friend with a touching social media post from his Twitter page. In the tweet, Howard fondly remembers Eddie Mekka as a warm, bright personality.

Ron Howard And Many Others Remember Eddie Mekka
Ron Howard is far from the only friend of Eddie Mekka paying tribute to the actor after his death. Mekka died in late November at the age of 69. It is clear that Mekka had plenty of friends by the reaction to his passing. Many of his past co-stars honored him with simple but touching social media posts.
Much the same as Ron Howard did, “Happy Days” star Don Most also says goodbye to his friend with a Tweet.
“Eddie Mekka, R. I. P. buddy,” Most says in his social media post. “We’ll miss you lots! Keep singing and dancing with the angels!”
Ron Howard and Eddie Mekka remained friends until the latter’s death just a few days ago.
Eddie Mekka died at his home in Newhall, California. Among many other stars remembering the actor is “Better Call Saul” star Michael McKean.
