Hollywood can be a family affair many times. That is why it isn’t surprising The Brady Bunch star, Florence Henderson’s daughter followed in her footsteps. Barbara was born back in 1956 and has made her own career in the acting business.

Of course, Florence is best known as Carol Brady on The Brady Bunch. However, Barbara has some memorable roles as well. Her acting career began at a young age. With her mother being the star of the Brady family, that meant she had some opportunities that others did not have early in her life.

She made three appearances in The Brady Bunch herself. In 1970, 1972, and 1974 the young actress played three different parts over those years. Each appearance was a different role. Starting with her time as Ruthie in The Slumber Caper. Then as Peggy in 1972. Finally, her last role on the show was as Suzanne in 1974 in an episode titled The Hair-Brained Scheme.

Although she got her start there, she didn’t stop. She appeared in the Police Woman TV series as a student in 1975. Then, she took up the role of Janice in the TV Movie, …and Your Name Is Jonah. Perhaps the most memorable role that the actress has played during her career came in 1980.

Barbara took up the role of Buffy in the Dolly Parton film, 9 to 5. Since then, the actress has had other roles here and there in other projects. However, those are the most memorable of her career. When your mom is America’s mom on TV, it just makes sense to get in front of the camera yourself.

How ‘The Brady Bunch’ Star Wanted to Be Remembered

Back in 1999, Florence Henderson sat down and talked about how she wanted to be remembered. While she had played Carol Brady on The Brady Bunch for many years, Henderson had a hopeful look at her legacy. I think that her hope is likely how most folks remember the late actress who passed back in 2016.

“Probably as someone who survived for a long time in a very tough business and hopefully, managed to retain a sense of humanity,” she told the Television Academy Foundation in 99.

When it comes down to it, we likely all want to be remembered in a similar way. Everyone works hard to get where they are at and for Henderson to build a career the way she did during the time she did, is very impressive. The former star of The Brady Bunch had such an impact on American pop culture. That entire show did, but without Florence Henderson as Carol, it just wouldn’t be the same, now would it? Let’s always remember her how she would want to be remembered.
