‘The Conners’ Star Katey Sagal Stuns in Red Carpet Flashback Friday Snap

by Suzanne Halliburton

Katey Sagal, a star of The Conners, is like any of us. She loves to post beautiful flashback snaps of herself on social media.

And in her most recent post, Sagal is looking fantastic. Her sultry snap is from the premiere of the 2016 boxing drama Bleed for This. Miles Teller portrayed Vinny “The Pazmanian Devil” Pazienza. Sagal was his mother. Martin Scorsese was one of the movie’s executive producers.

The photo was two years before Sagal joined the cast of The Conners as Louise, Dan’s new girlfriend and now wife. Have a look of this closeup shot of Sagal:

Sagal’s character and John Goodman’s Dan got married earlier this season on The Conners. Obviously, Sagal wouldn’t have that role as Dan’s love interest if ABC hadn’t cut ties with Roseanne Barr. But the idea of Roseanne still is a general theme on The Conners. And that’s by design.

In the last The Conners episode before the comedy went on winter hiatus, Becky made a joke about her late mother. In the scene, the family was burning their old bedroom furniture. Louise was moving into the house and Dan needed to get rid of some of the furniture he had with his former wife. So Dan made a joke about how the vikings torched their belongings to send them to heaven. That’s when Becky quipped: “And if it goes the other way, Mom gets her furniture back!”

Dave Caplan, an executive producer on The Conners, said expect more references to Roseanne.

“I don’t think there’s anything off-limits for us, and I say that sincerely,” Caplan told Cinema Blend. “Because I think we take it on such a case-by-case basis where, in the writers’ room, we’ll say, ‘Well, is this a place that one of the characters would mention her?’ Would Dan refer to her because there’s something about the old marriage that pertains to his new marriage with Louise? Or would Darlene say it?

“And in an upcoming episode, she does say something. Because she was raised by the woman, and now she’s raising her own kids, so it’s natural. So I think we don’t shy away from it where we think it would be right and honest for the characters to mention her.”

Sagal has been a part of 28 episodes of The Conners. She joined the cast as Dan’s childhood friend who manages Casa Bonita, the popular bar in Lanford.

In mid-October, Sagal spent the night in the hospital after being hit by a Tesla as she was crossing a street in Los Angeles. She missed about a month of production on the series before she could return to the set. Still, Goodman told the hosts of The Talk that Sagal was using a wheelchair to get around.

The Conners returns on Jan. 5, so stick with Outsider for more details about the comedy.
