‘The Conners’ Welcomes New Cast Member for Three-Episode Arc

by Matthew Memrick

Andrew Leeds joins “The Conners” cast starting Wednesday, Nov. 17, for three episodes.

Leeds will play Darlene Conner’s boyfriend. He will play Nick, a former stockbroker who traded his career and drugs for a new life on the ABC show.

The show airs at 9 p.m. on Wednesdays.

The actor has appeared in “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist,” “Bones,” and “A Million Little Things.”

Leeds “Conners” Role A Quick Spot

With Darlene’s new job at a Lanford Zen bookstore, Nick is the new love interest after breaking up with Ben, played by Jay R. Ferguson.

The friendly Nick looks comfortable in episode stills after Darlene brings him into her home. Leeds begins his three-show guest star role with “Let’s All Push Our Hands Together For The Stew Train and The Conners Furniture.”

The actor has also appeared in “Barry,” “The Morning Show,” “Modern Family,” and “Veep.”

Leeds started in musical theater and performed with “Les Miserables” cast during the late 1980s. His first film role was as Private Dotson in the 1995 Damon Wayans film, “Major Payne.” Leeds graduated from Stanford University with a computer science degree.

Leeds Back For Zooey’s Extraordinary Christmas

During his run on “The Conners,” Leeds returns to a former show for its Christmas special on NBC.

After last year’s cancellation of the Emmy-nominated “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist,” Leeds returns to his David Clarke role. The show picks up after its Season 2 finale. Producers say you won’t have to catch up on the series to get into the show, but it will attempt to answer several cliffhangers from the show’s ending. The plot revolves around Jane Levy’s Zoey character as she gets through her first holiday without her late father Mitch (Peter Gallagher).

Sagal Returning To ‘The Conners’

Recently, co-star John Goodman revealed that his on-screen wife Katy Sagal returned to the set following a bad accident. In mid-October, a car hit Sagal.

Goodman told CBS show “The Talk” the good news, saying Sagal “is better, but she wheeled her way into the studio. She looks great, but you can tell she’s a little shaken up still.”

Will the accident will play into the show’s storyline? But the cast and crew are likely happy to see the longtime “Sons of Anarchy” and “Married With Children” actress back on the set and soon working.

Roseanne’s Presence Still With ‘The Conners’

Executive producer Dave Caplan recently told TVLine that the show has tried to move on from the former star, Roseanne Barr. But after four seasons, talk of former show matron Roseanne Conner still lingers on the show with the writers

“We took such care during the whole first season after the character wasn’t in the show anymore,” Caplan said. “And we’ve never shied away from discussing Roseanne Conner’s impact on the family.”
