On Friday (September 17th), The Voice host Carson Daly took to his Instagram to share a special tribute to his mother on the 4th anniversary of her death from a heart attack.
“4 years ago today, my mom suddenly without warning passed way,” The Voice host writes. He then recalls being in LA on the eve of the Emmy Awards and drove out to Palm Desert where his mom was dealing with out of the blue cancer diagnosis for his dad.
The Voice host then stated that after doing all he could to better their situation and spend some time with them, he kissed them both goodbye and drove back to LA for dinner with his wife and attend the award show the next day.
“Knowing my mom had already lost a husband to cancer in the ’70s and having beat breast cancer herself, I knew how much my dad’s state was taking its toll on her both physically and mentally.”
Daly then stated that when he got back to the hotel, he sent a text to her basically thanking her for taking care of his dad. “She immediately responded, but then suddenly died about 4 hours later.”
Daly then shares a second post showing the last text message conversation he had with his mom before her sudden heart attack.
“I only am able to carry on each day due to God’s infinite will & strength & the love of my family. My wife, 4 incredible kids and sister and her family “
‘The Voice’ Host Carson Daly Heartwarming Essay About His Mother For American Heart Month
In 2019, Carson Daly shared a special essay about his late mother as part of American Heart Month. “I never would have guessed that my mom was going to die of a heart attack,” The Voice host wrote. He also noted that she had some health issues, but not in the heart. She didn’t even have symptoms of any heart complications.
“So I find myself this month being hyperaware about women and their health, as it pertains to the heart,” The Voice host continued. He also revealed that heart disease is the most common cause of death in American women. And he has been directly impacted by that.
Daly then goes on to reveal that his mom was also Type 1 diabetic and through the years, she had really good health along with good doctors. The Voice host further explained that she was not only diabetic, but she also battled breast cancer. She went through a single mastectomy and chemo supplement. She became cancer-free.
“[My mom] died of a heart attack,” The Voice host then declared. “We subsequently found out that the correlation between Type 1 diabetes and heart disease is very, very, very high. And I just never knew that.”
Daly goes on to add that while it was a painful topic for him if his words help one other son out there. His advice is to look out for heart disease.
“It’s literally killing women in this country more than any other thing.” And we never see it coming.”
