Some fans of “The Voice” are unhappy with the recent season’s outcome. Instead, they wish more artists of one genre would win.
Season 21 of “The Voice” ends with Girl Named Tom taking the title. While Team Kelly fans are jumping for joy, others are disappointed by the results. Many viewers wish that more pop artists made it to “The Voice” finale.
In a Reddit thread, “The Voice” fans are noting that most of the show’s past winners are either country artists or “big ballad singers.” One comment points out a reason why pop music is not heard as much on the show.
“Gotta make it to the blinds to make it to the finale… The show loves 1970s music, maybe because they can get the rights for cheap. Not sure. I assumed Ariana [Grande] would be the pop genre coach, but she only got 2 or 3 who could really qualify as such, and they were very weak vocalists,” the fan says.
The Season 21 winning trio Girl Named Tom is a folk/country trio. It seems as if the main demographic of “The Voice” prefer this genre of music to pop.
Hopefully, in the future, fans will see more pop artists grace “The Voice” stage. The show has not yet been renewed for a 22nd season.

And she’s a perfect example of someone who has taken that amazing experience from the competition show, American Idol, and elevated it. Turned it into a lifelong career.”
