The singing competition is in a three-way tie with the two CBS shows for the highest demo ratings of the night. How did ‘The Voice’ perform?

Tuesday nights are great for television. The primetime shows receive consistent viewership. Last Tuesday [December 14th] was no exception.

NBC’s “The Voice” and CBS’ “FBI” and “FBI: Most Wanted” are tied for Tuesday’s highest demo ratings. Each earning a 0.7 in the 18-49 age demographic. According to Deadline, this shows a slight dip in demo ratings and viewers for “The Voice,” although it reached about 7.10 million viewers in its finale.

“The NBC singing competition was steady from its previous Season 20 ender in May 2021 (0.7, 6.46M), rising slightly in viewers,” it says. “However, this year’s December finale was slightly down from that of 2020 (0.9, 7.10M) in both demo rating and viewers.”

The report continues to say that “The Voice” earned the second-highest viewership of the night. CBS’ “FBI” had the most viewers, reaching about 8.15 million on Tuesday.

Fans of the singing competition are hopeful that this slight dip does not cause the show to be canceled.

Is John Legend Leaving “The Voice?”

There is speculation that “The Voice” judge John Legend is leaving the show. This is because of the announcement of his upcoming Las Vegas residency.

“Love in Las Vegas” is the title of Legend’s new show. The singer will perform songs from his entire catalog with a full band. Shows are scheduled to begin April 22, 2022 at Planet Hollywood’s Zappos Theater. Legend gives fans a taste of what the show will be like in a special Instagram trailer.

“Get ready for Love in Las Vegas! My 2022 Vegas residency featuring your favorite songs from my entire career… full band… beautiful show…magical night,” Legend writes.

“The Voice” typically films and airs seasons during the Fall and Spring. These April show dates could mean that Legend is stepping away from the singing competition. Or, it could mean that the singer will be traveling between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Currently, there is no confirmation that “The Voice” has been confirmed for a Spring 2022 season.

Legend loves being a part of the show. Beginning his time as a mentor in 2019, he has been an important member of “The Voice” family.

“I’m thrilled to join the coaches of The Voice. I’ve been a guest and mentor on the show multiple times and I’m so excited to discover talented singers and help them make the most of their gift. I hope the world is ready for #TeamJL,” John said when he took the position.
