The Voice hit a milestone yesterday, reaching 500 episodes. Monday saw Team Blake’s Knockout Round between Hailey Green and Libianca, where Blake chose Libianca as his winner. The rest of the judges had their Knockouts on Tuesday.
John Legend put Samuel Harness and BrittanyBree up against each other. Samuel sang “Bruises” by Lewis Capaldi, and used his raspy voice to its full potential. Legend called this performance his best so far. BrittanyBree sang “The Best Part” by Daniel Caesar, and got a little more vulnerable and intimate than she’s used to, but in the end, Legend chose Samuel Harness as his winner.
Kelly Clarkson had Hailey Mia and The Cunningham Sisters go head to head. 13-year-old Hailey Mia sang “Arcade” by Duncan Laurence and showed off a lighter side of her very intense voice. The Cunningham Sisters sang “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)” by Hillsong UNITED, in their drive to bring more worship songs to The Voice. They went more acoustic with their sound, and the result let their voices shine. But Kelly Clarkson ended up choosing Hailey Mia as the winner.
For Team Ariana, Ryleigh Plank sang “Midnight Sky” by Miley Cyrus and the coaches complimented her energy and vibe. David Vogel sang “Lose You to Love Me” by Selena Gomez, and went for a more acoustic sound that brought out his vocals. Ariana Grande chose Ryleigh Plank as her winner, but John Legend loved David Vogel so much that he stole him for his own team.
The teams right now are Kelly Clarkson: Katie Rae, Gymani, Girl Named Tom, and Hailey Mia. John Legend: Joshua Vacanti, Samuel Harness, and David Vogel. Ariana Grande: Raquel Trinidad, Holly Forbes, and Ryleigh Plank. Blake Shelton: Wendy Moten, and LiBianca.
‘The Voice’: Team Blake’s Knockout Round
On Monday’s episode, Blake Shelton had to choose between Hailey Green and LiBianca, and he described it as a “soul-crushing” decision. Both Hailey and LiBianca were amazing, and Shelton had a tough choice to make.
Hailey Green sang one of Shelton’s own songs, “God’s Country,” and while she killed it with her guttural vocals, it was LiBianca who really caught the judges’ attention. She sang “everything i wanted” by Billie Eilish, and her voice was so soft and ethereal that Shelton ended up choosing her as his winner of the Knockout.
Both John Legend and Ariana Grande voted for LiBianca after her performance, while Kelly Clarkson went with Hailey Green. She called Hailey a “baby Janis Joplin” and said that no one else on the show was singing like she was. But, LiBianca strategically showed off her vocal range with well-placed high notes and a light, almost nasally sound. Her performance of such a heavy song was beautiful and angelic, and she deserved her win.
