The Voice coach Kelly Clarkson just posted a picture with pop star Ed Sheeran fresh off the announcement that he’s joining the show as a “mega mentor.”

“Did y’all hear the news? @Teddysphotos is the mega mentor on @nbcthevoice this season!! #TheVoice,” Clarkson wrote on Instagram.

With Ed Sheeran joining as a mega mentor, it seriously looks like The Voice is pulling out all the stops this season. Pop superstar Ariana Grande just joined the show as a coach, and now Ed Sheeran is coming on board to help the contestants out in the next rounds.

Sheeran is known for his particular brand of love songs. He’s known for his songs, Shape of You, Perfect, Photograph, and his newest, Bad Habits.

Sheeran Joins ‘The Voice’ for the “Knockout Rounds”

Sheeran is joining The Voice for the Knockout rounds portion of the competition. The knockout rounds follow the “Battle rounds.” According to Deadline, Sheeran is going to use his experience with songwriting, singing, and music production to help artists improve their performances and vocal techniques.

Sheeran should have plenty of wisdom to impart. He’s a four-time Grammy award winner after all. The Knockout rounds are particularly challenging because the contestants have to choose a song that highlights their own voice. At the end of each knockout battle, the coaches have to choose who they would like to advance.

The knockout rounds begin on October 25th, so we’re quite close to seeing just how Sheeran works with the remaining contestants.

The Competition is Fierce this Year

The blind auditions have been incredibly impressive thus far with an incredible range of talented performers across different genres. One competitor that recently stood out is Brittany Bree, a singer from Dallas, Texas. The singer got the coveted four-chair turn during her blind audition before eventually deciding to go with John Legend.

Another stand-out contestant from last night was Ryleigh Plank, a major fan of Kelly Clarkson and Ariana Grande. The singer chose to sing a chilling rendition of Demi Lovato’s Anyone. After some debate between Clarkson and Grande, Plank ultimately decided to join Ariana Grande’s team

The blind auditions are wrapping up and the coaches are quickly filling up their teams. This part of the blind auditions is always interesting. When coaches have so few spots left, it seems like they’re less likely to turn.

If you want to catch new episodes of the voice, they’re airing on Monday and Tuesday nights at 8/7 Central on NBC. We’re just getting through the last of the blind auditions before weeding down the competition in the battle rounds. Then, Ed Sheeran will join the cast for the knockouts before the show goes to live shows.
