From contestant to possible duet partner, one “The Voice” singer may make a massive jump in their career.
During this last season of “The Voice,” viewers were introduced to some really astounding performers like Girl Named Tom (crowned the first trio to ever win), Hailey Mia, Jershika Maple, and Wendy Moten.
Moten from Team Blake was particularly popular amongst fans. She also made history as the oldest contestant to appear on the show. The powerhouse vocalist performed stunning covers of songs like “We Can Work It Out,” “Over the Rainbow,” “You’re All I Need to Get By,” and “How Will I Know.”
Possible Wendy Moten and Blake Shelton Collaboration
Now, she may get to add a song with Blake Shelton to her list of performances. “The Voice” competitor hinted that something may be in the works with her former coach. She gave her fans an update on how she was doing after the end of the show.
Fans of the show likely remember that Wendy Moten had a pretty gruesome injury. She took a nasty spill on stage and had a broken right elbow and fractured left hand. She finished the show but has since needed surgery.
While she is hoping for an effective recovery, Moten is also hoping for a collaboration.
“Counting the days until I have fully recovered from my elbow surgery so I can get back to work finishing recording my new music and performing live!!! I’ll most definitely keep you all posted and I hope there’s something in the works with @blakeshelton too !!! Fingers crossed !!! #thevoice #teamblake,” the caption on her post said.
From the sound of it, absolutely nothing is concrete about this duet. It sounds like she’s putting the idea out there more than anything else. She would have to figure out all the logistics that go along with a collaboration with Shelton. Seeing as he’s a very popular country artist, Shelton probably has his hands very full.
It’s not completely unheard of for a “The Voice” contestant to collaborate with their coach on the show. Shelton collaborated with RaeLynn from season two of the show. Her “Baytown” album features the song “Why I Got a Truck” with Shelton.
Blake Shelton Possible Exit from ‘The Voice’
Blake Shelton is the only coach that has been on “The Voice” since the very first season. It’s been a whirlwind of talented contestants and constant banter.
The question remains — how long until he decided to call it quits?
He hasn’t expressed any interest in leaving “The Voice” as of now. In 2021, he spoke with Hoda Kotb on the “Today” show about his time on the show. He said that one day he wants to have a far less hectic schedule in order to enjoy his life more alongside his wife Gwen Stefani.
“I hope that’s not too far down the road. Ten years sounds like way too long to me. I’d like to see that sooner than later,” he said.
