‘The Voice’: Team Blake Star Wendy Moten Blows Everyone Away With Finals Performance

by Madison Miller

It comes as little to no surprise that powerhouse vocalist from Team Blake Shelton, Wendy Moten, put on yet another soul-wrenching performance during the first half of “The Voice” finale.

Moten is one of five finalists competing for that prestigious title as “The Voice.” In addition to the title, the winner gets a record deal and a cash prize.

Wendy Moten ‘The Voice’ Finale Performance

When it came time for her to perform, Wendy Moten did not pick an easy song. She went with the classic tune by Patti LaBelle, “Over the Rainbow.” For a moment, it was like she opened up the heavens, rainbows and all, for viewers at home.

Moten has a real talent of being able to hit absolutely unreal notes without it seeming even that difficult for the artist. Before coming on “The Voice,” Moten actually had a bit of success on her own years before. She had her own No. 8 single in the UK called “Come In Out of the Rain.”

She also toured and sang backup vocals for several artists, such as Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Martina McBride, and Vince Gill. In a technical aspect, Moten is pretty unmatchable.

Some “The Voice” fans expressed their thoughts on Twitter regarding Moten’s performance. While they thought it was technically excellent, some found it lacked emotion.

“I think Wendy is a phenomenal singer. But, too many times I feel like she’s trying to belt out the highest, loudest note instead of putting emotion into it. I’ll take Judy Garland’s version or my all time favorite Israel Kamakawiwoʻole’s version,” wrote one Twitter user.

Moten has been a front-runner her entire time on “The Voice.” She has time-after-time left the coaches stunned. Kelly Clarkson jokingly said her abilities on the stage are “rude.”

“Wendy, I just don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone with a gift like you have. Your voice is just so flawless and perfect. And then you just stand there and do it with such nonchalance. It’s… it’s… it’s insulting to every other singer that works so hard! We just watch you do it, and it just looks so easy coming out of you,” John Legend said after her performance.

Voting Ahead of ‘The Voice’ Finale

Tomorrow night, the winner of “The Voice” will finally be crowned.

Team Kelly Clarkson is Hailey Mia and Girl Named Tom, Team John Legend is Jershika Maple, Team Blake Shelton is Wendy Moten and Paris Winningham, and Team Ariana Grande sadly has no competitors in the finale.

Each of the contestants sang two more songs last night to try to make a final impression on America.

As for viewers at home, it’s now your time to shine.

Voting opened on Monday night at 5 p.m. PT. You can vote using “The Voice” app or online at NBC.com/VoiceVote. If you haven’t voted yet, just hope that other viewers think the same way. Voting closed Tuesday morning at 4 a.m. PT.

You can watch who will become the winner during the second half of the live finale, which starts tonight at 9 p.m. PT/ET.
