When fans of “The Waltons” became aware that there would be a revival of the beloved family drama, there was a lot of excitement. Now, recently released photos of the upcoming reboot series should make fans even more excited for the debut of the new show.

(You can check out those photos here.)

More than two dozen photos from the set of the revival have been released. And a few of them include a cast member from the original series.

That cast member, of course, is Richard Thomas. He played John-Boy in the original series, which aired from 1972 until 1981. John-Boy was one of the most important characters in the show. He was the character most directly inspired by the show’s creator Earl Hamner Jr.

The world of the beloved family drama was based on “Spencer’s Mountain,” a book written by Hamner. He drew inspiration from his childhood in Schuyler, Virginia, for the book and the series.

A New Cast is Joining Richard Thomas in ‘The Waltons’ Reboot

In the upcoming revival, Richard Thomas will play the role of the narrator. Interestingly, this role was played by Hamner in the original series.

So, with Richard Thomas playing the Narrator who is playing John-Boy in the upcoming reboot? That famous role went to Logan Shroyer. According to IMDb, the 22-year-old Shroyer is most famous for his role Kevin in “This Is Us.”

The rest of the cast includes Bellamy Young as Olivia Walton, Ben Lawson and John Walton Sr., Marcelle LeBlanc as Mary Ellen Walton, Christian Finlayson as Jason Walton, Michael Kendall Kaplan as Toby Walton, Samuel Goergen as Jim Bob Walton, Callaway Corrick as Elizabeth Walton, Rebecca Koon as Grandma Walton, and Alpha Trivette as Grandpa Walton.

Fans Should Mark Their Calendars for Nov. 28

According to Deadline, “The Waltons’ Homecoming” will air on the CW network. Its debut will take place on Sunday, Nov. 28, at 8 p.m. (Eastern).

The plot of the upcoming television movie is: “Set in 1933 Depression Era, times are tough for the Walton family but to make matters worse, it looked to be the Waltons’ first Christmas without John Sr. … When Olivia … receives a letter that John Sr. is planning to make it home for Christmas after all, the family is thrilled and prepares for his homecoming. But when a storm threatens his Christmas Eve arrival, and John Sr. is nowhere to be found, Olivia sends John Boy … out into the night to find his daddy — a journey that will change John Boy’s life forever.”

This appears to be a story that fans of the original series won’t want to miss. It’s an event that executive producer Sam Haskell hopes will lead to a full series reboot. “I want to bring every original cast member in as a guest – to play a teacher or a nurse or a doctor. I want to integrate the original cast into the series and future movies,” Haskell said.
