ABC is inviting you to a “Wonder”ful night of comedy next week as their regular Wednesday night line-up gets by with “a little help” from some old friends. Next Wednesday, October 13, ABC will pay homage to the original Wonder Years as the brand new series reboot continues to soar in ratings.
Dubbed “Return to Wonder Wednesday” by ABC, some of our favorite stars from the original Wonder Years television series, which ran on the network from 1988 until 1993 will be making some hilarious appearances throughout the evening.
The event will kick off Wednesday at 8 p.m. easter with the Goldbergs, followed by the new Wonder Years series at 8:30 p.m.
The Conners will premiere at 9 p.m. eastern followed by Home Economics at 9:30 p.m.
The night of laughs and memories will kick off with The Goldbergs. The episode will see our favorite eighties family running into Dan Lauria. Lauria played Kevin Arnold’s father, Jack Arnold, on the original late eighties to early nineties “coming of age” series.
In this episode, Dan Lauria will portray a neighbor to the Goldberg’s who is moving out of a spacious house. One that Beverly Goldberg is determined to own.
A ‘Wonderful’ Evening With Some ‘Wonder Years’ Favorites
Of course, an evening of The Wonder Years on ABC wouldn’t be complete without a brand new Wonder Years episode.
Wednesday night’s episode will include a shout-out to the original series’ theme song as the show’s star, Dean, (Elisha Williams) and his father, Bill (Dulé Hill) come together and perform “With a Little Help From My Friends” during band practice on “Take Your Son To Work Day.”
Next, the original Wonder Years’ star, Fred Savage will have his turn.
Savage, who played Kevin Arnold in the series, will make an appearance on the Wednesday night comedy block when he guest stars on The Conners.
Not much is known about Savage’s role when he makes his appearance on the hit ABC series.
But, the episode sure promises a lot of laughs and plenty of chaos.
Dan Conner (John Goodman) finds himself facing a challenge as his wedding to Louise (Katey Sagal). The chaos ensues as the wedding is derailed as a tornado is headed straight for Lanford.
After that, Wonder Years’ Danica McKellar who portrayed Kevin Arnold’s love interest Winnie Cooper in the series makes her appearance in an episode of Home Economics.
In this episode, Sarah, who is portrayed by Caitlin McGee interviews for a job at her niece’s school. Meanwhile, Marina (Karla Souza) makes an effort to connect to her Mexican roots.
A ‘Wonderful’ Addition To A Favorite Throwback
The brand new Wonder Years series premiered last month on ABC and it has been a hit with audiences. One of the biggest draws to the series is that while audiences loved the original, the new show is not a remake by any means. In fact, notes Wonder Years producer Saladin K. Patterson, the new series is “a parallel story that also exists in the Wonder Years universe.”
