‘Three’s Company’ Star Suzanne Somers Was Born in California in 1946

According to IMDb, “Three’s Company” star Suzanne Somers was born on Oct. 16, 1946, in San Bruno, California. The name she was given at birth was Suzanne Marie Mahoney. She is one of four children born to Frank Mahoney and Marion Mahoney.

At his job, her father put beer into boxcars. Her mother worked as a medical secretary. Unfortunately, Somers’ father was an abusive alcoholic. He abused members of his family both physically and verbally. This caused the future television star to live in fear of what he might do to her and the other members of her family.

Another challenge the future “Three’s Company” star faced when she was younger was that she was diagnosed with dyslexia. Somers struggled in school. Fortunately, she found joy in the arts. During high school, she enjoyed the drama program. Her talents earned her a college scholarship.

However, six months into her studies she was pregnant. She gave birth to a son named Bruce Somers in November 1965. She also married her son’s father. The marriage wasn’t a happy one and they later divorced. To support her son, the future “Three’s Company” star began modeling in San Francisco. In 1968, she was hired as a model on a game show. It was there that she met Alan Hamel, who would eventually become her husband.

During the early 1970s, Suzanne Somers made some appearances on television. It was in 197y that she began her time playing the role of Chrissy Snow in “Three’s Company.” She appeared in the popular series alongside John Ritter and Joyce Dewitt. Her time in the series ended over a dispute about how much she was being paid for her work in the sitcom.
