From his home in Austin, Jared Padalecki, along with his two sons, watched the season premiere of Walker. The two boys probably were as anxious about the episode as their dad.
“My boys couldn’t wait to watch either,” Padalecki tweeted.
Padalecki’s Kids Watch His New Show, Wasn’t the Case for His Last Series
The Walker star is the father of three. His wife and the mother of their three kids is Genevieve. She starred with him Supernatural. In fact, they met and fell in love on set. Naturally, Genevieve also plays Padalecki’s wife on Walker.
And Padalecki said he wants his children to watch his new show. Which is a different approach from the one he was on for such a long time.
“For 15 years, I worked on a show that I didn’t really want my kids to watch because I’d have to explain why Daddy was bleeding,” Padalecki told People earlier this year. “And why Daddy was killing Mommy or why Uncle Jensen (Ackles) killed Mommy.”
“They were having nightmares, and so the idea that I could let them watch this new show is pretty special,” Padalecki adds.
The youngest child is daughter, Odette. She’s a pre-schooler, so it’s unclear whether she’d old enough to watch her dad on any show.
The series is shot in and around Austin, Tx. That means Padalecki doesn’t have to go far for work. And his family sees more of him, too. The Padaleckis have lived in Austin since 2012. Call the home a modern farmhouse. There’s plenty of room for the kids, along with dogs, chickens and mini-horses. He grew up in nearby San Antonio, so Central Texas is home. Other Hollywood stars live in the city as well, including Matthew McConaughey.
“I think if you get to Austin and you don’t decide to go the Austin speed limit, then you probably won’t last here,” the Walker star told Architectural Digest. “There is something very specific about the town.”
Earlier this week, Padalecki talked with Entertainment Weekly about the upcoming Walker season. Last season ended with Walker solving the case of who killed his wife.
“Walker certainly enters season two with a greater degree of peace than he entered into season one,” Padalecki told the magazine. “He’s still a Ranger and he still has some questions and he was shot at, but conversely, Micki (Lindsey Morgan) has kind of taken the mantle for starting the season in a complicated headspace.
“The peace that Walker has found, even if it’s brief, was taken from Micki and given to Walker because now she’s undercover. We pick up in season 2 with Micki having been undercover for about three months trying to figure out who shot Stan Morrison and Walker, and Walker is not privy to all the facts. Until he ultimately does find out and he becomes equally worried about Micki having gone through what he went through in season 1, having been undercover and coming back to normal life.”
