Walker star Lindsay Morgan revealed why filming her last scene in the show was so difficult as well as how she overcame it. In a recent interview, the actress said she couldn’t get through the scene without tearing up.
“Oh my gosh,” Morgan explained. “It was ridiculous. Even when the cameras weren’t on me, I was crying. And Jared was like, “Hey, save it.” And I looked at him, but I was like, ‘I’m not trying!’ And then he made fun of me. He’s like, ‘Oh, you’re not trying? You can just cry?’ But it was so beautiful.”
Morgan left Walker citing personal reasons. The actress suffered from “burnout” due to expending too much energy on work and not enough on herself. Her role on the show was protagonist Cordell Walker’s partner. She had been a regular throughout the first season and left midway through the second.
Prior to filming her exit, Morgan struggled with practicing her lines. As a result, she continued rereading them up until ten minutes before shooting.
“I realize now I was trying to protect myself from really feeling those emotions and really feeling the gravity of it all for Micki and for Lindsey,” continued the Walker actress. “And then finally I just surrendered and I was like, ‘You know what? Let me just feel all these feelings,’ and it hit me like a tsunami.”
Walker Cast Shows Support for Morgan
While the experience of leaving was hard, Morgan felt that having the support of her costars made a huge difference.
“Also, I had no idea, but the entire cast came back for that scene,” the actress revealed. “It was my last scene and they were all watching it in video village [on set]. I had no clue. [Showrunner] Anna Fricke even flew in from Maine to be there. So just to be supported and nurtured by so many wonderful people, it just touched my heart in such a profound way. And that last scene was just…it will stay with me forever, yeah. You forget about a lot of scenes after so many years of doing this, but that’s one scene that I will just treasure in my heart forever.”
Will Morgan Return to Walker?
When asked about returning to Walker, Morgan didn’t hesitate to say the door is always open.
“One-hundred percent,” Morgan said. “No questions asked. Me leaving was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make in my life and it’s really interesting because my life can parallel Micki’s a lot, and this was kind of a similar instance. I really need to take the time to take care of myself and my well-being physically and emotionally and mentally, and reevaluate how I got to where I am and make some changes.”
While it may be quite a few episodes before we see Morgan return, it’s a possibility. No doubt that the positive relationships she maintains with the other cast members contributed to her answer.
