There’s no denying that the song “Face Off” by Tech N9ne, featuring Joey Cool, King Iso, and Dwayne Johnson is pretty catchy.

It also gives fans of The Rock a chance to hear the Hollywood A-lister rap. It’s pretty different from his musical experience on the popular Disney movie “Moana.”

Also, Dwayne Johnson’s verse in the song is very much in character. It’s a very outright motivational and hard work message, which Johnson preaches all the time.

“It’s about drive, it’s about power / We stay hungry, we devour / Put in the work, put in the hours and take what’s ours / Black and Samoan in my veins,” The Rock sings in the song. Recently, he even sang it alongside some of his fans on the red carpet.

Dwayne Johnson Raps with Fans

As he is walking on the red carpet at the People’s Choice Awards, Johnson starts to rap the lyrics. Meanwhile, the camera pans over to the crowd that is energetically singing along. When he finishes his verse, the crowd erupts into a fit of cheers. The Rock then holds up a glass of what is probably tequila on the rocks (even more likely that it’s his Teremana brand).

“Always good to see my friends, always good to make new friends and best of all…ALWAYS good to connect and vibe with my #1 boss ~ THE PEOPLE. Thank you to THE PEOPLE for sending me home with all the hardware,” Johnson wrote on Instagram.

Johnson took home the Male Movie Star and Comedy Movie Star awards. He also got the honorary People’s Champion Award.

Johnson Gives Away his Award

Besides showing off his rapping skills that night, Dwayne Johnson showed off his humility and compassion. The People’s Champion Award went to the “Fast and Furious” actor because he is known for his kindness.

That’s what Jeff Bezos said when he handed him that award. “His achievements are legend. His work ethic is unparalleled. He transcends all demographics … But even with all that, the thing that really stands out the most? He’s kind. … You see, kindness is a choice. And what I admire most in Dwayne is his choice to show unwavering kindness to everyone around him,” the billionaire said, according to People.

When Johnson went on the stage to receive the award, he had a surprise up his sleeve. He gave it to a Make-a-Wish recipient that was in the audience.

“She has inspired her family, her friends, now you guys here, now the world that is watching,” he said. She then went on the stage, completely shocked. He told her sweetly, “you represent everything that it means to be a people’s champion.”

He really proved why he deserved that award, after all.
