Just a bit before Monarch takes to the airwaves on Fox, some clips from the show’s upcoming debut are hitting TV screens.

In one of them, star Susan Sarandon is shown definitely defending the throne of country music.

It’s all part of this new trailer for Monarch as the show debuts in January.

Outsiders, let’s take a look at it right here.

Thanks to an article from TV Line, we get a little more information about the show.

Yes, Outsiders, that is Susan Sarandon in the lead role of Dottie Cantrell Roman, country music’s undisputed queen. Well, Dottie is all set to give the title over to her daughter Nicolette, played by Anna Friel.

The trouble on Monarch here comes that Nicolette might not share Mom’s own ambitions.

But there are others in the Monarch world looking to take Dottie’s crown.

Gigi, played by Beth Ditto, who is Nicolette’s sister, is all set to get into the spotlight. This is the case even as Dottie sees Gigi as a “wild card.”

Country music singer Trace Adkins stars as Albie Roman. Also, Iñigo Pascual plays Ace Grayson and Joshua Sasse stars as Luke Roman.

Monarch will premiere on Sunday, Jan. 30 on Fox.

‘Monarch’ Names New Showrunner For Upcoming Primetime Drama

Seeing a show change showrunners just a month before hitting the airwaves might be problematic.

With Monarch, though, they just might be adjusting their sails ahead of appearing on Fox in January 2022.

Jon Harmon Feldman takes over showrunner duties from Michael Rauch. All of this is according to a report from Deadline.

This show has a large cast involved. But it appears that some ups and downs were affecting Monarch. So Fox changed showrunners in the hopes that things smooth out.

For Rauch, he was executive producer on Royal Pains and did create the CBS show Instinct. But Rauch was lined up to oversee the Monarch writer’s room. He got the showrunner tag this spring.

And for Feldman, he has been a showrunner on Designated Survivor on ABC as well as another ABC show, Blood and Oil. Feldman also created Tru Calling, a supernatural drama with Fox, and co-created ABC’s No Ordinary Family.

Show Adds Some Country Music Clout In Having Trace Adkins On Board

Well, Fox picked up Monarch as a mid-season replacement for 2022.

To be honest, Outsiders, this series has been kicking around Fox for two years. The network gave it an initial show order for 12 episodes.

Fox will use the NFC Championship Game as a lead-in for Monarch. This happens on Sunday, Jan. 30. And, the two-part premiere continues on Monday, Feb. 1.

Adkins will be a regular cast member alongside Sarandon.
