When Crowe was only 4, his family moved to Australia and settled down in Sydney. His parents had their own affiliations in the film business, specifically, they did film set catering. What Crowe is referring to is actually a 1980s AIDS awareness campaign. During his appearance, he is seen playing a game of Russian roulette alongside Rebecca Rigg.

After success in Australia, acting as well as some work as a musician, Crowe would eventually turn his focus to American films. Crowe Upcoming Marvel Movie
Like many other actors recently, Russell Crowe is joining in on the Marvel universe.
He will be playing a small role in Taika Waititi’s “Thor: Love and Thunder” movie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he was first suspected of playing a role in the movie when he was spotted in Australia with the rest of the cast.
The movie is set to come out on May 6, 2022, and is the fourth “Thor” movie. Russell Crowe will appear alongside Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, and Tessa Thompson. Christian Bale will also stray from his DC roots to play villain Gorr the God Butcher.
Crowe’s last appearance in a film was in “Unhinged.” This 2020 movie focuses on a moment of road rage that turns into a full-blown revenge scheme.
