It’s no secret that we’re living in strange and dark times. It seems like we’re more divided than ever before. Then, there’s the ongoing pandemic and all of the contention surrounding it. The list goes on. The best thing to do in times like these is to do your best to live a life that makes you happy while trying to be the change you want to see in the world. It might sound hokey but it’s true. Just because times are tough doesn’t mean we all have to be miserable all the time. American Pickers star Danielle Colby knows this as well as anyone else.

Many people know Danielle Colby from her work on American Pickers. That is, after all, what put her in the public eye. She landed her position because she is a history buff who is passionate about all things vintage. The Queen of Rust would probably be buying and selling antiques right now even if the show never took off. In addition to being a fan of vintage items, Dani is a burlesque performer and a student of its history. When she isn’t working on the show, she’s traveling the world to learn more about the history and originators of the art. Those passions help her stay positive in trying times.

Danielle Colby’s Passions Keep Her Focused on the Positive

Back in 2019, Danielle Colby sat down with Metro Times to talk about her time on American Pickers, and her passion for burlesque and its history. During that interview, Dani talked about how her passions helped keep her spirits high.

Danielle Colby said that she hears people talk about being “born in the wrong era” or that they would be “burned at the stake” in a bygone period. However, she still sees the darkness in the present. “I am amazed to see that we are still fighting for human rights,” she said.

Dani’s love and understanding of history gives her some perspective on the present. “History teaches me that the dollar rules and whoever writes history writes it however they want,” Danielle Colby told the publication. She went on to say that we, as a species, continue to repeat the mistakes of the past “even though we see millions of people dying because of it.” That knowledge weighs heavy on her. However, she says her passions help her stay upbeat. “The pretty little things in between like burlesque are great and they keep my mind focused on the positive.”

Danielle Colby said that over two years ago. However, it doesn’t seem like anything has changed. She’s still on American Pickers as well as celebrating the past, present, and future of burlesque. At the same time, a quick scroll through her Instagram will prove that she’s keeping her head high in the present because of her ties to the past.
