We all know that it’s important to get the exact wording correct when solving a puzzle on the long-running game show, Wheel of Fortune.

For some games, the line between winning or losing can be as simple as a mispronounced word or a wrongly placed punctuation. When this happens, fans of the popular word-solving gameshow tend to speak out, calling foul on the Wheel decision makers choices.

Other times, however, a puzzle-solver can make a mistake that is big enough that even the show’s fans aren’t sure how to react to it.

This is exactly what happened during Wheel’s special 47th-anniversary special episode had some fans rolling with laughter as they commented on one contestant’s attempt at a puzzle solve.

During the hilarious Wheel mix-up Thursday night, one contestant named Shafi was stacking up some big money, solving clue after clue.

This is why viewers were so shocked when Shafi got one puzzle tremendously wrong.

And viewers just couldn’t let the gaffe go, turning to social media to express their disbelief in the Wheel of Fortune fail.

“This might be the dumbest #WheelOfFortune solve ever,” says one Twitter user of the hilarious puzzle solve. “Straight fail.”

The category in question was “Song Lyrics.” Many viewers seemed to believe the solution would be a slam dunk as the board began filling up with letters.

‘Wheel of Fortune’ Contestant Is Definitely Not With the Band

As Shafi had control of the wheel, he decided to take a shot at solving the puzzle.

The board read “TH_S _AND _AS MADE FOR YOU AND ME.”

This, of course, references the famous Woodie Guthrie classic, “This Land is Your Land.”

But, Shafi didn’t seem to be familiar with this particular classic. His answer?

“This band has made for you and me.” A wrong answer for Shafi, that’s for sure.

And, as seen above, the Twitterverse could not make sense of Shafi’s mistake.

“Watching Wheel of Fortune and for this puzzle: This _and _as made for you and me,” one Wheel Watcher says of Shafi’s play.

The dude solves with “this band has made for you and me,” the Twitter user continues, joking that this gaffe may have to lead the game show to brand new contestant screening procedures.

“I… We may need to implement some sort of test for contestants hereafter,” the commenter quips.

A big mistake, yes. However, this did not slow the Wheel of Fortune contestant down. Shafi made it all the way to the bonus round, which he won. In total, the missed answer didn’t cost Shafi too much as he walked away with $71,150 in total winnings.
