Longtime Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak considers it an honor to work alongside game show royalty in Vanna White. He said as much at the start of a recent episode, calling his co-worker of nearly 40 years a “princess.”
It’s not a stretch to rank the pair of them among all-time game show figures such as the late Alex Trebek of Jeopardy! and The Price is Right legend, Bob Barker. If Barker is the king by seniority, then Trebek and Sajak fit the bill of princedom nicely. And yes, that would make the magnificent Vanna White a full-on princess.
From her long reign on Wheel of Fortune to the glamorous wardrobe choices that made her something of a fashion icon, Vanna White embodies the image of a true princess. And Pat Sajak took some time out during an episode to recognize that fact.
“I come out here with a princess every night. What an exciting life I have. Go to your throne. I’ll see you later,” says Sajak.
Wheel of Fortune fans agree wholeheartedly with Pat Sajak, and some even took it a step further. One Instagram user gave Sajak some props by adding, “And Vanna comes out with a prince!”
The working relationship of Vanna White and Pat Sajak has been on display for nearly four decades now. And here is hardly a more iconic TV duo out there.
The ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Icons Consider Where They’ve Been… And Where They’re Headed
Wheel of Fortune co-hosts Pat Sajak and Vanna White recently signed a contract to continue on the show through 2024. The news has led some fans to wonder—how much longer can they keep this up? How much longer do they even want to?
We don’t doubt that the pair could continue hosting the long-running game show effectively for another 10 years. After all, Bob Barker stayed on with The Price is Right well into his eighties. Sajak would likely be the limiter for the duo as he is currently 75. So it’s a matter of choice for them, more than anything.
They talked about their futures on Wheel of Fortune during an interview recently.
“We’re certainly closer to the end than the beginning. I’d like to leave before people tune in and look at me and say, ‘Ooh, what happened to him?’ I wouldn’t bet on seeing us in, like, 10 years, I would say. Is that fair [to say]?” Sajak asked Vanna during a September interview with Entertainment Tonight.
“Probably, yes,” answered Vanna. “We’ve been together for like 38 years, and he’s like my brother. He’s funny. I mean, we could finish each other’s sentences if we wanted to. We know each other that well.”
