America’s beloved “Wheel of Fortune” is thanking fans for a wonderful 2021. They are also promising a very big 2022.
“Wheel of Fortune” is celebrating another year on the air. Making its debut in 1975, the game show has broadcasted over 7,000 episodes (as of May 2019). In their latest post, the game show’s Twitter is gearing up for 2022.
“Thanks for spending another amazing year with us!” the post reads. “Get ready because 2022 is going to be a big one.”
The exciting caption is paired with a sweet GIF of “Wheel of Fortune” host Pat Sajak and Vanna White. Fans of the show are looking forward to more episodes in the new year.
“You’re welcome. Thanks for the great year of shows in 2021. Look forward to watching WOF in 2022. Once a Wheel Watcher always a Wheel Watcher. I’m a Wheel Watcher since the 80’s,” @BigJon0501 writes.
“Thanks for invading my living room every night. Cheers to many more,” @wofanswer tweets.
Pat Sajak’s 40th Anniversary As A Host
Pat Sajak is celebrating his on-screen anniversary. The game show host has been on “Wheel of Fortune” for 40 years now. December 28, 2021 marked this big day.
On his anniversary, Sajak shared a sweet tweet telling fans the big news. As usual, he does so with humor.
“What a week! Dec 25…Christmas Day. Dec 28…40th anniversary of my first “Wheel” on NBC daytime. Dec 31…32nd wedding anniversary. Jan 1…2022 begins. And it almost has to be better than 2021, doesn’t it? Well, doesn’t it?”
Some fans were angry that the game show did not pay tribute to the host on screen or on social media.
“WOW! Not one mention of Pat Sajak’s 40 year anniversary on last night’s Wheel of Fortune??? This is unacceptable,” one person wrote.
“From what I’ve seen, today marks 40 years since @PatSajak first made his debut on @WheelofFortune,” another viewer wrote on their personal page “… I’m curious if Wheel is going to post anything about it?” another asked.
While there is no confirmed answer as to why the show did not congratulate its host, there is one logical possibility. Because “Wheel of Fortune” episodes are pre-taped, production is done weeks in advance. The producers of the show may not have known where to add a tribute.
Nonetheless, Sajak’s work anniversary is celebrated by fans all over the world. The “Wheel of Fortune” host renewed his contract until 2024 alongside Vanna White. After that, he is unsure of where his career will take him.
“We’re certainly closer to the end than the beginning,” Sajak says to ET. “I’d like to leave before people tune in and look at me and say, ‘Ooh, what happened to him?’”
