‘Wheel of Fortune’s’ Vanna White Preps Maggie Sajak For First Big Role On Show
In fact, Vanna White had a big part in Wheel of Fortune’s Pat Sajak’s daughter, Maggie getting her current position as Wheel’s social correspondent.
When Pat Sajak suffered a health scare in 2019, Wheel of Fortune showrunners knew that Vanna White would be the perfect person to stand in for the longtime game show host. The trouble came, however, in finding a replacement for Vanna as she stepped in for Sajak. Enter Sajak’s daughter, Maggie Sajak.
It was a perfect plan as each member of the Wheel family stepped in to make it work. However, there was one challenge White faced as she welcomed Maggie onto the stage…Maggie had never filled in such a role before.
So, the night before Vanna was to step into Pat Sajak’s role, and Maggie into Vanna’s, Vanna White gave the young Sajak a crash course on the skill.
“She gave me a little tutorial,” Maggie has said of Vanna’s training.
“Like on our refrigerator, of how to press the letters and how hard to press them and all of that,” the young Sajak continues.
“She was so gracious in teaching me, and you know, she had a big job to do that week too, filling in for my dad,” Maggie adds. So it was a new experience for both of us, and I’m really glad we were able to do that together.”
