2020 CMA Awards Will Air with No Live Audience

The 2020 CMA Awards will not have a live audience for the first time in the awards show’s history.

The 54th Annual CMA Awards will take place on November 11. The show will air on ABC at 8 P.M. ET. The announcement was sent to CMA members on Tuesday September 1). from Country Music Association CEO Sarah Trahern on Tuesday (September 1). They will not be selling any tickets and people in the venue will only be essential personnel.

“We understand this news is disappointing, but know the adjustment is necessary in order to provide the safest possible environment for all involved,” she wrote in the letter. “We are so proud to broadcast the event, not only domestically but internationally, allowing us to expand the growth of Country Music worldwide.”

The CMA Awards were previously hosted in downtown Nashville at the Bridgestone Arena. The letter did not address the location of the awards show.

Additionally, Trahern confirmed that there will be more than one host and it will be announced in the coming weeks. Last year, Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood, and Reba McEntire co-hosted the star-studded event.

The Nominees

Miranda Lambert has the most nominations this year with seven nominations. She is nominated in the Album of the Year category for WILDCARD, Entertainer of the Year, and Female Vocalist. Her single “Bluebird” received nominations for Music Video of the Year, Single of the Year, and Song of the Year. Finally, Lambert is nominated for Musical Event of the Year for “Fooled Around And Fell In Love.” She is nominated alongside Maren Morris, Elle King, Ashley McBryde, Tenille Townes, and Caylee Hammack. Around And Fell In Love.” After this year’s nominations, she became the most decorated female artist with a total of 55 nominations.

The second most nominated artist is Luke Combs with six nominations. He received his first Entertainer of the Year nomination. Furthermore, he is nominated for Album of the Year for What You See Is What You Get, Single of the Year for “Beer Never Broke My Heart” and Male Vocalist of the Year. Combs has a good chance to win Song of the Year. He is nominated twice in that category for “Even Though I’m Leaving” and “I Hope You’re Happy Now.”
