A new sneak peek of tonight’s episode of 9-1-1 shows Athena learning some awful news about Hudson as the chaos from the season premiere episode continues.
For a refresher, the season premiere episode found the characters dealing with a citywide blackout caused by a cyberterrorist. In a devastating turn of events, serial rapist Jeffery Hudson escaped prison. When Lou showed up at Hudson’s lawyer’s house to protect her, they find Hudson there and arrest him.
But in a shocking turn of events, Hudson’s lawyer turns on Lou and slits his throat. Many initially believed Lou died. But the new clip seems to allege that he’s in the hospital and is now missing. It’s not a sure thing who they’re talking about, however.
Then, Athena and Captain Elaine Maynard find out that Hudson is not in his cell and has escaped once more as the nightmare scenario continues to unfold.
Tonight’s ‘9-1-1’ Episode is Called ‘Desperate Times’
Tonight’s episode of 9-1-1 is called “Desperate Times,” clearly implying that some of these characters wind up going to desperate measures. For Athena, it looks like things are going to get personal. Showrunner Tim Minnear talked about the upcoming episodes in a recent conversation with TV Insider.
“[The situation] becomes very, very personal for [Athena] by Episode 3,” he told the publication. “That nightmare that she has, as you say, in the first episode, really starts to come true in the next two episodes, and that it is very personal for both of them. Here’s a woman who was unapologetic about bringing him down and he has a real issue with women, to put it mildly. And so he does start to fixate on her and I think that she becomes his bête noire in a lot of ways, and it becomes very kind of mano-a-womano, if that’s even a term.”
The incredibly high-stakes cat and mouse game between Athena and Hudson look like its just heating up and will probably reach a boiling point in the next 9-1-1 episode. But who knows what tonight has in store, or who Hudson will target next. Also, how does his lawyer play into all of this? Where will he go after escaping? All the answers to these questions should be coming soon.
And there’s still chaos for the other characters as well. The 118 has to deal with the after-effects of the blackout, which happened to occur during a major heatwave. From escaped zoo animals to crashing helicopters, Los Angeles is looking like absolute chaos.
Of course, the team is also going to find out exactly who is behind the attacks in the first place, so there’s plenty of ground to cover in tonight’s episode
