‘9-1-1: Lone Star’: Nancy Actress Brianna Baker Promoted to Full Time Role for Season 3

9-1-1: Lone Star is promoting from within as Nancy’s Brianna Baker goes from a recurring role to series regular ahead of Season 3.

Who’s the cool kid now? “9-1-1: Lone Star Promotes Brianna Baker (aka Nancy) to Series Regular for Season 3,” TV Line reports Tuesday.

Baker, a recurring role on FOX’s procedural since the inaugural season, has more than earned her keep. She’s an original cast member, having come on with the January 2020 premiere. Her paramedic, Nancy Gillian, has obviously grown on the cast and crew. But most importantly, fans absolutely love Nancy (see below). Now they’re set to get a whole lot more Gillian with the Season 3 renewal on FOX.

“Good decision!! Now please, please!! Give her the screen time she deserves!!” adds 9-1-1: Lone Star fan Adry. “We barely saw Carlos in last night episode and this being happening with Rafa the whole season.”

“THIS IS SO WELL DESERVED!!! I can’t wait to see more Nancy next season @thebriannabaker 😁🥳❤️,” echoes Amy on TV Line‘s Twitter announcement.

And follower Jared puts it most simply with: “Love me some Nancy!”

9-1-1: Lone Star Fans Get to Know Nancy

Fans have come to know Nancy Gillian mostly through tragedy. Working at the 126 under Capt. Tommy Vega, Nancy has lost several co-workers, including those she’s close with (Tim).

Outside of such traumatic situations, however, we’ve really not seen much of who she is. But according to showrunner Tim Minear, that’s all about to change.

“We’re going to learn more about her,” Minear tells TV Line. “It’s funny, the story that we gave her this year of feeling like she wasn’t at the cool kids’ table, was sort of me and [executive producer Rashad Raisani] writing about how she was kind of treated on the show until we realized how incredibly cool she is,” he continues.

The showrunner adds that other “characters talking about her character on screen is really me and Rashad talking about Brianna and how incredible she is.”

High praise, right there! No wonder Brianna Baker is getting a promotion. And with it, she joins current series regulars Rob Lowe as Owen, Sierra McClain as Grace, and Ronen Rubinstein as T.K. Rounding out the leads are Jim Parrack as Judd, Natacha Karam as Marjan, Rafael Silva as Carlos, Julian Works as Mateo, Gina Torres as Tommy, and Brian Michael Smith as Paul.

We’re still waiting on a bit more good news, however, as 9-1-1: Lone Star fans have yet to hear a Season 3 release date. We do know the show is being held up until January 2022 at the earliest. Then, when football wraps in March, 9-1-1 viewers will have their back-to-back shows… back!

And as FOX teased themselves during their 2021 Upfront presentation, fans will want to “keep an eye out for a crossover in the back half of the [TV] season.”
