“We’ve been cooking up some ideas that I think are super fun,” said “9-1-1: Lone Star” actor Rob Lowe about the idea of a potential “9-1-1” and “9-1-1: Lone Star” crossover episode in the upcoming 2021 and 2022 television season.
“I’m excited to try to do it,” the actor continued of the crossover idea in an interview with The Wrap.
“Working on the crossover this year was one of my favorite things,” the actor added.
“Not just because my son wrote it,” he said. “But it was just great to work with those actors from ‘9-1-1.’ They’re all so great.”
Right now, all signs point to a definite yes when it comes to the question of whether or not “9-1-1” and “9-1-1: Lone Star” will be coming together for a crossover episode in the 2021 and 2022 television season.
However, with the two shows having drastically different premiere dates, the crossover event may come further into the fall seasons than some fans would like.
As of right now, the fifth season of the popular FOX television series “9-1-1” is set to premiere on September 20; while “9-1-1: Lone Star” will very likely be looking at a midseason premiere for the popular show’s third season.
It is very likely that FOX will be airing the “9-1-1” crossover episode in the back half of the television season. And it could very well during the Texas-based show’s season premiere, just as the shows start airing on the same evening with the “9-1-1: Lone Star” series return.
And for Rob Lowe, this plan works just fine.
“It’s a blast kind of putting the teams together,” the actor said.
However, notes the “9-1-1: Lone Star” actor, the crossover event will more than likely occur on “9-1-1” territory.
“My sense is that it would be us coming to L.A.,” said Lowe. “That seems totally, only fair.”
“9-1-1: Lone Star” A Television Hit
Rob Lowe stars as firefighter Owen Strand in the popular FOX television series. The “9-1-1” spin-off first premiered in January 2020.
In the series, Owen Strand and his son, T.K. (Ronen Rubenstein) have relocated to the Lonestar State after serving on the New York City fire department for many years. T.K. has followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a firefighter himself.
“I love a good procedural,” Lowe has said about his role on the show.
“In any given episode, I’m playing comedy, I’m playing a leading man, I’m playing action, and I’m playing really raw emotion,” the actor explained.
“9-1-1: Lone Star” has already experienced two successful season runs. A third season has been announced, but a premiere date is yet to be set.
