Heartthrob and hero of 9-1-1, actor Oliver Stark plays the role of Evan “Buck” Buckley with such accuracy that it’s hard to believe he’s not a compulsive yet compassionate member of the Los Angeles Fire Department. To the surprise of his fans, though, Stark’s accent isn’t even real.

A British-born actor, Stark got his big break on screens with his role in Into the Badlands. For two years, he portrayed Ryder, an impulsive and arrogant Baron of the Armadillo Territory. A year after his role with the post-apocalyptic show ended, he made his debut on the first episode of 9-1-1 as the loveable and hardheaded Buck we all know.

Now, as a pivotal part of the show’s fabric, Stark does his own stunts whenever he can. Perhaps he craves the same sense of danger that his character does. Or, maybe that’s just how well-rounded of an actor he is. Regardless, his stunts only add to the authenticity of the show’s action-packed episodes. Now that he has five seasons of stunts under his belt, the actor of course has his favorites.

In Season 2, Episode 7, “Haunted,” Buck had to rescue a hiker who fell off the 75-foot cliff. That meant the actor would have to rappel down the long drop. According to the 9-1-1 star, this made him a bit nervous, but the director convinced him to go for it.

“I was kind of nervous to do it, and then did it, and was so happy that I got the chance to,” Stark told Nerds and Beyond.

‘9-1-1’ Star Shares Details about Relationship with Stunt Double

Stark also shared that whenever he has the chance to do his own stunts, he puts forward all of his energy and talent.

“And then just anything that they let me do, I always kind of take pride in and enjoy getting to kind of throw myself into that side of it,” the 9-1-1 actor explained. “Because again, it’s something that helps me step from Oliver into Buck, because he’s so gung ho when it comes to that stuff that I’ve kind of learned to be like, ‘Yeah, I’m gonna do it, too.'”

For those moments when it’s just not possible or safe for Stark to complete the stunt, he has his stunt double, Skyler Millicano. According to the 9-1-1 star, the two have a very encouraging relationship.

“I have a really great stunt double, a guy called Skyler Millicano, who is so excellent at telling me that I can do it and talking me through it,” Stark expressed. “So it’s a really nice back and forth that the two of us have established. He makes me feel very comfortable when it comes to these things.”

Together with the team behind the cameras, Stark has dedicated himself to portraying the role of Buck as best as he can.
