Twitter users are heckling comedian Adam Carolla after remarks he made about COVID-19.

Earlier this week, Carolla posted a tweet with his opinion regarding the effects of COVID-19 and users on Twitter are not having it. “Turns out the people dying from covid are old or sick or both. How many of you p—-‘s got played ? and who’s going to get played the next time,” Carolla posted on Tuesday.

The tweet appears to reference an interpretation of data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggesting many of the country’s 180,000 COVID-19 deaths were caused by preexisting conditions and not the disease itself.

The CDC data shows that among coronavirus-related deaths, 6% of the death certificates list COVID-19 as the sole cause of death and 94% list a variety of “additional conditions or causes.” However, some of those listed were chronic medical conditions, while others were common symptoms of coronavirus including respiratory failure, pneumonia and cardiac arrest.

Many users on Twitter, including big names Hollywood, slammed the comedian and podcast host as a result of what many perceived as his ignorant and insensitive attitude.

To illustrate, some responding to the tweets showed concern, disgust, and disappointed.

On the other hand, other public figures completely roasted the actor for his comment.

Adam Carolla is no stranger to being the center of social media drama due to his brash political opinions.

However, he tells The Wrap “will not apologize” for his tweet about the pandemic.
