Adele’s Estranged Father Passes Away at 57 After Battling Cancer

Singer Adele is dealing with some sad news on Monday night as Mark Evans, her estranged father, has died of cancer at 57 years old.

Their relationship remained broken for many years, according to an article from The Daily Mail. It reportedly goes back to 2011 when Evans said that Adele’s inability to find love in her life goes back to abandonment issues.

In 2013, Evans admitted that he was suffering from bowel cancer. He also said in an interview that year that he wanted his daughter back in his life.

Yet in 2011, Evans said he’d been a “rotten father” to Adele when she was young.

“I was putting away two liters of vodka and seven or eight pints of Stella every day,” Evans said. “I drank like that for three years. God only knows how I survived it.”

Evans took responsibility for Adele’s struggles after he left her and her mother, Penny Adkins, when Adele was three years old.

This news comes days after the multi-millionaire singer celebrated her 33rd birthday.

British Singer Racks Up Awards, Record Sales In Her Career

Adele was born Adele Laurie Blue Adkins on May 5, 1988. Her career took off thanks to her debut album, “19,” in 2008. She won “Best New Artist” and “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance” in the 2009 Grammy Awards.

Her second studio album, aptly titled “21,” brought Adele six Grammy Awards. That album has sold more than 31 million copies, making it the top-selling album in the 21st century.

The third album, “25,” brought her five Grammy Awards.

She has been a philanthropist throughout her career, supporting causes near and dear to her heart.

Adele showed off her new weight loss transformation on Oct. 24, 2020’s “Saturday Night Live.” On the show, she cracked jokes about it but her appearance sparked interest in the “sirtfood diet.”

“And I know I look really, really different since you last saw me,” she joked, “but actually, because of all the Covid restrictions and the travel bans, I had to travel light and only bring half of me – and this is the half I chose.”

Adele continues to keep the weight off of herself. But she’s quite body-positive on her Instagram account. Fans have linked the singer to the Sirtfood diet. Aidan Goggins and Glen Matten founded the dietary plan in 2016, according to Metro News. The diet consists of eating specific foods called “sirtfoods.”

Goggins and Matten said the diet can help the body’s ability to lose weight while retaining muscle. These foods activate sirtuins in a person’s body.

Sirtuins are proteins that protect cells from dying when put under stress. For instance, researchers believe they play a role in regulating a person’s metabolism and aging. Kale, buckwheat, dark chocolate, green tea, and apples are some of the “sirtfoods” listed with the diet.
