Today the Alaskan Bush People would have been celebrating Billy Brown’s birthday. But instead, they’re continuing to mourn his sudden death.

“It’s impossible to describe the empty feeling without him,” Billy’s son Bear wrote in a social media post.

On February 7th, 2020, Alaskan Bush People patriarch Billy Brown suffered a seizure while at home on his Washington State ranch. Bear Brown called 9-1-1 immediately, and EMTs arrived on the scene shortly after. But unfortunately, they were not able to revive the reality star. And he was pronounced dead on the scene. He was 68 years old.

December 3rd would have marked Billy’s 69th birthday. The milestone is proving hard for the Alaskan Bush People family. And it’s been particularly tough on Bear.

Today, he penned a heartbreaking letter on his private Instagram page. In it, he expressed how lucky he feels to have the rest of the Brown family and his “lovely lady and son” standing beside him as he continues to grieve the loss of his father. And he noted that as much as he misses his dad, he’s certain Billy Brown “is in a better place with no more pain.”

“One of the last things my dad said to me was how proud he was of me and I sarcastically was like I don’t see why? My dad obviously knew I was joking,” he added. “I do wish I was more serious though! Happy Birthday, Da! I love and miss you. Forever my hero.”

‘Alaskan Bush People’ Browns No Longer Speak to Oldest Son Matt

Amid rumors, the Alaskan Bush People family has separated from Matt Brown as he works to overcome substance abuse struggles.

During an interview with Screen Rant, Bear Brown shared that he wishes “all the best” for his older brother and hopes that Matt finds “what he’s looking for in life.”

The estrangement came shortly after patriarch Billy Brown passed in 2020—when Matt revealed shocking allegations about the Discovery Channel production crew and his parents.

According to Matt, the crew gave Billy and Ami Brown cocaine and instructed them to give it to their son. Matt had already dealt with addiction in the past, so the cocaine sent him on a downward spiral.

Matt also claimed that the Brown family lies about their on-screen lifestyle, which was a rumor that Bear was shocked to hear.

Fake, people still say that?” Bear asked Screen Rant. “You would think after seeing so many hardships and how our real-life problems alter the entire direction of the show that it’s pretty obvious how real it is. If anyone is still in denial and just can’t accept the truth, all I have to say is, ‘What is hard to believe?”
