The death of “Alaskan Bush People” patriarch Billy Brown surprised and saddened the eight other members of his family. As fans of the show are aware, Billy passed away in early February 2021. He was 68 years old at the time of his death.
Billy left behind his wife, Ami, and their seven children. Those children are – from oldest to youngest – Matt, Bam Bam, Bear, Gabe, Noah, Snowbird, and Rain.
Things between the Brown family haven’t exactly been going well recently. Some of the drama has involved the eldest son, Matt. Because of that drama, some fans of “Alaskan Bush People” have wondered if Matt was in attendance at his father’s funeral.
So, did that reality television star go to Billy Brown’s memorial service? Well, according to Monsters & Critics, Matt was not part of the celebration of his father’s life. That celebration was part of a recent episode of “Alaskan Bush People.”
However, fans noticed that Matt Brown was not found among those who appeared in the episode to mourn the late Billy Brown. Matt’s absence was noticed for another reason. No member of his family even said Matt’s name during the recent special episode of the popular reality television series.
To make things even more awkward, at one point Bam Bam was described as the oldest son of Billy Brown during the episode. That, of course, is not true. Matt is the oldest of Billy and Ami’s children. Bam Bam is the second oldest.
Other fans have also wondered if Matt Brown attended a funeral service for his father shortly after his death. This is not known at this point. What is known is that Billy was cremated and that the service for him at that point was a small affair.
Drama Between Matt Brown and His ‘Alaskan Bush People’ Family Has Been Going On for Some Time
There has been conflict between Matt Brown and his brother, Bear Brown, for a while. Maybe this is what kept Matt from attending. But who knows? Also, Matt has had conflict with the rest of his family as well. Because of his substance abuse issues, the family sent Matt to rehab. Following that, they have not welcomed him back into the family fold. Another factor that has kept Matt distant from his family is that he has been willing to discuss them publically.
Matt, however, has also publically said that he and the “Alaskan Bush People” patriarch did make amends with one another before Billy’s death in February 2021. Matt talked about this in a video he posted to Instagram just after his father passed away.
“Hi friends, In loving memory of my Dad Billy B Brown. Thank you all so much for your loving words of kindness and prayers they mean so much. …” Matt shared. “Truth is, it hit me hard. I’m very lucky that before he passed, I knew that his health problems were getting worse and I had the hindsight to be able to reconcile with him and find closure before he passed. I feel good in my heart knowing I took that opportunity to do the right thing.”
