Bear Brown from “Alaskan Bush People” is using Instagram to argue with his brother and set the record straight on some rumors regarding his late father.

On February 7, 2021, the beloved patriarch of the Discovery Channel show and Brown family, Billy Brown, passed away. He died from a seizure at the age of 68.

Bear Brown Comments Regarding Family

The family has been showcasing their lives out in the wilderness since 2014. However, Matt Brown, the oldest of the family, left the show in 2017 after two sexual assault allegations and other family-related issues.

According to People, Matt Brown was accused of raping two women in 2018. Both women worked with the family and the show. Additionally, he has struggled with addiction and substance abuse for years.

Recently, Matt Brown went on a rant on social media where he called out his family and “Alaskan Bush People.” In the video, he claims that his late father took all the money that the family earned from doing the series.

“Everybody’s told me that other people’s secrets aren’t mine to tell, but they’re destroying me, and they’ve been destroying me for a long time. I’m cold, and I don’t have any money. And I hardly have anything to eat,” Brown said in the video. He is out in the middle of the woods at night while filming the video.

Matt Brown also said that the show wasn’t entirely authentic. The show was based on the book Billy Brown wrote about living off the grid. However, the family was actually more modernized. They had a generator, a television, and movies, amongst other things, according to Matt’s rant. Matt Brown blamed some of his problems in life on having to lie for the show. He also opened up about having an affair with a married woman when he went to California for rehab after leaving “Alaskan Bush People.”

“We made a lot of money off the show, and because my dad controlled everything, all the money went to him… I didn’t have any money or anything. My dad kept that all,” Matt Brown also said.

Matt Brown also claimed that the show’s producers gave him cocaine. He allegedly states that this is where his drug problem started, which eventually made him end up in rehab.

Bear Brown’s Response, ‘Alaskan Bush People’ Controversies

Amidst the allegations, Bear Brown, another child of Billy Brown, is also using social media to talk about his family and the show. He wrote, “I would like to set the record straight about the things my older brother has posted, none of it is true! It’s heartbreaking that he would say such horrible lies about Da just a few months after he passed away! I pray he can find the peace and serenity in his life that he needs. God bless everyone!”

It was alongside a picture of a dandelion flower. Which one could reference that Bear is calling Matt the “weed” of the family. The show has often been called out for not being 100% authentic. It is a reality television series so many aspects of the show do have a level of fiction added to them. In regard to the money, it is unclear exactly how the money was split prior to Billy Brown passing away.

Both Billy and one of his sons, Bam Bam, spent 30 days in jail in 2016 after lying on Permanent Fund dividend applications. They said they were living in Alaska when they were not at the time. In 2014, the family was charged with falsification and theft for lying about where they live for government checks. Locals admit the family doesn’t really live deep in the wilderness. The Brown family has also been seen in Los Angeles and parts of Colorado in between tapings of the show.

No one else in the family has spoken about the allegations regarding Billy Brown and the rest of the family.
