‘Alaskan Bush People’ Star Bear Brown’s New Selfie Has Followers Asking ‘What Is That Thing’ in Sky Above Him

by Jon D. B.

“Chem trails!!!” one fan jokes in response to the Alaskan Bush People star‘s photos, which depict strange circular formations in the sky.

If there’s one thing we can always count on Bear Brown for, it’s unique perspectives on the great outdoors. His latest posts to Instagram are a great example of this, too, with the young Alaskan Bush People vet posting several shots of uncanny formations in a beautiful blue sky.

While many of his followers are awestruck by this phenomenon, we’re betting our readers know exactly what’s going on here.

The strange cloud-like loops in the sky are contrails – sometimes called white trails. We often see them overhead after a jet leaves a bright, cloudy streak across the sky. It is far rarer, however, to see them make a perfectly circular pattern like this – making these really excellent shots from Mr. Brown regardless!

Unfortunately, the Alaskan Bush People brother has reset his Instagram to full privacy settings. As such, we can’t embed his latest update here and show off the formations. What we can do, however, is guide you to his official account here. You can then request to follow Bear Brown and see his latest outdoors shots for yourself.

What Causes the Contrails ‘Alaskan Bush People’s Bear Brown is Seeing?

While many of us are familiar with contrails, the science behind them is rather specific. So what, exactly, causes these cloudy streaks and shapes through the sky?

According to Scientific American, jets leave contrails in their wakes “for the same reason you can sometimes see your breath.” This happens when “hot, humid exhaust from jet engines mixes with the atmosphere, which at high altitude is of much lower vapor pressure and temperature than the exhaust gas.”

As a result, the water vapor contained in the jet exhaust condenses – sometimes even freezing. It is this mixing process that “forms a cloud very similar to the one your hot breath makes on a cold day.”

As for Bear Brown himself, the guy knows how to work a camera! Posting often to his official Instagram, the young Alaskan Bush People icon’s latest selfies show off an updated look, too. Within, he’s sporting a straw Western wide-brim, a short beard, and far shorter hair, which you can see here.

All in all, it’s great to see Bear looking happy and healthy again. After the loss of his father, Billy Brown, and then an awful split from his fiancée and mother of his child, Raiven Adams, Bear needs all the positivity he can get.
