‘Alaskan Bush People’ Star Gabe Brown Unveils Self-Portrait Sketch Amid Mourning of Billy Brown

by Jon D. B.

We all deal with trauma and grief in our own ways, and Alaskan Bush People star Gabe Brown has taken to navigating the loss of his father, Billy Brown, through art.

“Art thou me? Not my usual medium, and it’s just a quick sketch, so please don’t judge too harshly. I hope everyone is doing okay today,” Brown posts to Instagram Sunday.

Lately, young Gabe Brown has been seeking solace through his followers. While the death of a loved one sometimes becomes easier with time, it’s never a quick process. Like the rest of his family, Gabe is still working through the tragic loss of his father and Alaskan Bush People‘s patriarch, Billy Brown.

One of his latest posts shows this manifesting through art as Gabe shares a self portrait. Within, he shows himself rocking considerably less facial hair than we’re used to. Yet that somber look of loss is ever-present:

Fans are quick to come to the Alaskan Bush People star’s aid, too.

“Wow, this is so beautiful! 😍😍 Good job Gabe.👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻 God bless ❤️🙏🏻,” one top comment reads.

“You are a lovey guy Gabe. And this is a grt sketch. And it shows true emotions. To my eye any way. Keep being you Gabe. 😙👌✌,” another offers.

Grief Hangs Heavy Over ‘Alaskan Bush People’ Family

Gabe’s other recent posts focus heavily on the loss of his father, too. Which is to be expected, as Billy Brown left this earth but a few months ago.

“Take nothing for granted. The air we breath, the food we eat, clean water, most importantly, the people who make you feel whole,” the reality star shared via Instagram last week.

“What I wouldn’t give to have just one yesterday with Da back. If hearing those words makes you think of someone in your life, please go hug them for me,” he told followers.

Another of the ‘Alaskan Bush People’ star’s fans replied in kind to this post, writing that they “agree 1000%” with Gabe.

“What I wouldn’t do for another hug, coffee or just a chat on the phone,” the follower wrote. “It’s an ache that just hurts so deeply. Thanks for being so vulnerable and raw, it helps others in the same boat ❤️ Sending hugs and prayers.”

As the family moves on after Billy Brown’s passing, much of their television future is up in the air. A Season 13 is on the way for ‘Alaskan Bush People’ courtesy of Discovery. The family itself, however, is experiencing deep turmoil through the recent public statements of the eldest Brown child, Matt.

Matt Brown has made several startling accusations against his late father and his mother, Ami Brown. Though Gabe hasn’t spoken to this directly, other siblings – like Bear Brown – have taken a more direct approach, as has Noah Brown. With this in mind, where the family’s future lies remains a topic of great debate.
